CONNECTIONS™ to analyze next phase in Connected CE, including interactive features and cloud-based solutions

Parks Associates forecasts annual unit sales for connected TVs, Blu-ray players, game consoles, and digital video players will grow to nearly 340 million by 2015

Parks Associates today announced connected CE will be a key focus at the upcoming CONNECTIONS™: The Digital Living Conference & Showcase, June 28-30 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. As this product category reaches a new development phase, with units sold worldwide exceeding 130 million in 2011, industry focus will shift to providing Internet-like experiences and cloud-based services to enhance device value and continue strong sales.

The CONNECTIONS™ session "Interactive Features for Connected Consumer Electronics," Wednesday, June 29 at 11:15 a.m., will feature executives from AwoX; Accedo Broadband; Allegro Software Development Corp.; LG Electronics; LEVEL Studios, a Rosetta Company; and SyncTV discussing strategies to develop and deploy these features for connected CE.

Parks Associates will present new research including consumer interest in new interactive features such as TV widgets/apps, content delivery and billing systems for video-on-demand, and transactional/ad-supported business models.

“The advent of connectivity on a host of retail-available CE brings new entertainment, communications, and functionality to this industry,” said Kurt Scherf, VP, Principal Analyst, Parks Associates, and session moderator. “This session highlights the need to build high-quality experiences associated with connected CE, the role of cloud media, and new business models to increase revenues.”
