Sudeep Maitra is the Global VP, Strategy and Development of Centrica Connected Home responsible for the strategy and development agenda, including entry into new geographies and new verticals such as insurance. Previously, he served as Centrica’s Group Strategy Director where he supported the Executive and Board on key strategic decisions including a comprehensive Group strategic review. Before joining Centrica, Sudeep was an Associate Partner with McKinsey & Company where he had leadership roles in their strategy, utilities and sustainability practices. He also has prior experience in industry and consulting with GE and Arthur Andersen respectively. Sudeep holds an undergraduate degree in engineering, a master’s degree in organisational behaviour and an MBA from INSEAD.

Matthias Mieves Matthias Mieves, Head of New Business, Sales & Marketing Connected Home, Deutsche Telekom AG

Matthias Mieves is Head of New Business, Sales and Marketing for Deutsche Telekom’s White Label Smart Home portfolio. Matthias is responsible for the development of the Connected Home business, growing the smart home business in Deutsche Telekom’s own footprint with national sister companies, such as Slovak Telekom, and together with partner companies within sectors ranging from telcos to utilities. He is also responsible for the acceleration and further development of the Connected Home mass market business model, including the implementation of market penetration strategy across Europe and beyond.

Matthias took on his current role in 2016, after heading up Commercial Management of the Magenta SmartHome business in Germany, which included setup and scaling of Deutsche Telekom´s smart home product. He was also responsible for the definition and execution of the pricing and go to market strategy, and laying foundations for the router integration of Smart Home and combining the proposition with Deutsche Telekom´s core business and products.

Matthias has worked for Deutsche Telekom since 2010, after completing his MBA thesis on Telekom Deutschland’s Performance in Innovation Management. In his second year at the University of Mannheim, Matthias won a three-year scholarship from Deutsche Telekom. Upon graduation, he became a part of Deutsche Telekom’s Start Up! International High Potential Program, before moving on to work as an in-house consultant for the Center for Strategic Projects. As project lead, Matthias transformed and re-organized different units of DT. In addition, he was engaged in various business development projects.

Fluent in German, English and Spanish, Matthias has worked in different management and business development roles for over seven years. Through a number of scholarships and prizes, Matthias was able to study internationally with longer study and working periods in Germany, Australia, Peru, Spain and South Africa. He has a deep understanding of intercultural steering models, product development, cross-functional and virtual teams, output-quality and long-term transformational programs.

George Yianni George Yianni, Head of Technology – Home Systems, Philips Lighting

George Yianni, Head of Technology – Home Systems, joined Philips in 2007 as a Pre-development Project Leader/Architect. Most recently, George developed Philips personal wireless lighting system, Hue, which further expands how consumers interact with their “connected homes.” He’s end responsible for all technology, architecture and platform choices made for Philips Lighting’s connected consumer products and ensures that the ecosystem being built around it is best suited for future development.

From concept and since its release in 2012, Philips Hue has been awarded several industry honors including Forbes’ Best Product of 2012 and Lightfair’s Judges’ Citation Award.

Additionally, in 2011, George was elected into Global Shapers, a World Economic Forum community consisting of young leaders at the forefront of their respective industries who cause positive disruption with the goal of building a more peaceful world.

At Philips, prior to working on Philips hue, George worked as a system architect on various Lighting controls products including the Living Colors range and lighting systems for office and street lighting.

Before joining Philips, George worked as a software engineer for the UK based startup Autonomy designing software for helping large companies better organize and use their internal knowledge,.

Born in France, to Cypriot and British parents, George has had an international upbringing. He studied Theoretical Physics and Natural Sciences receiving two masters degrees from Cambridge University in England.


Avi Barel Avi Barel, Business Development Director, ULE Alliance

Avi has over 30 years of broad high tech experience, ranging from software development, semiconductor, engineering and business management. Avi joined the ULE Alliance in April 2013 as the Director of Business Development. Prior to ULE Alliance, worked 10 years at DSP Group, serving as Corporate Vice President of sales for 8 years. Before joining DSP Group established and managed Winbond subsidiary in Israel for 5 years, developing semiconductor products for speech processing and communication, managing team of 50+ engineers. At National Semiconductor held variety of engineering, engineering management and business management positions; involved in development and management of award winning, innovative projects. Avi holds M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and B.Sc. degree in Mathematics and Physics from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Marco has the responsibility for developing and deploying the Centralite International growth strategy. Through the course of the last years he has successfully executed on this master plan by establishing Centralite product embedding in a large number of leading platforms. Furthermore Centralite has been selected a primary partner in several field trials which shortly will be converted into public offerings.
Marco brings over 25 years’ experience in senior positions from high-tech and imaging industries. Before joining Centralite, Marco was the Managing Director (Media) Business Operations EMEA for Intermec (a Honeywell Company), supplying Data collection and Printing solutions to 75% of the Fortune 500 companies. Furthermore he was member of the EMEA Leadership and Global (Media) Operations Management Team. Prior Intermec Marco held various senior positions including Strategic Vendor Management, Director of Operations and other functions at Konica Minolta and QMS. Bernd Grohmann Bernd Grohmann, Executive Vice President and CTO, eQ-3 AG

Bernd Grohmann is Executive Vice President (Vorstand) and CTO at eQ-3 AG, responsible for the OEM plus international business and Corporate Development for the group. According to industry analysts, eQ-3 is the European Smart Home market leader based on the installed base of whole home solutions and a Pioneer with IPv6 based Smart Home products.
Grohmann is a profound expert of the Smart Home and IoT market plus technology. Before joining eQ-3 AG, Grohmann was Vice President Product Marketing at Zensys, the original maker of Z-Wave, where he was responsible for the Z-Wave alliance in its early days.
At Danish industry group Danfoss A/S, Grohmann was leading the Communication Technology Center, a think tank supporting all 26 business divisions. In addition, he greatly contributed to the standardization work, e.g. within IEEE802.15.4, as a Working Group Chair in the ZigBee alliance and as one of the initiators of the 6LoWPAN initiative of IETF.

Cees Links is a pioneer of the wireless data industry. He is the founder and CEO of GreenPeak Technologies, a Smart Home and IoT radio communications semi-conductor company, now part of Qorvo.

Earlier in his career Cees worked for NCR, AT&T and Lucent Technologies. Under his responsibility, the first wireless LANs were developed for PCs and notebooks, that ultimately became household WiFi technology integrated into computers, smart phones and connected smart devices. He also pioneered the development of access points, home networking routers, and hotspot base-stations. He was involved in the establishment of the IEEE 802.11 standardization committee and the Wi-Fi Alliance. He was also instrumental in establishing the IEEE 802.15 standardization committee that become the basis for ZigBee sense and control networking.

After Qorvo's acquisition of GreenPeak in May 2016, Cees has become the General Manager of the Wireless Connectivity business unit in Qorvo.

He was recently recognized as Wi-Fi pioneer with the Golden Mousetrap Lifetime Achievement award. 

Joe Liu Joe Liu, CEO, MivaTek / Home8

Joe Liu currently leads strategy and operations at MivaTek, a smart home and healthcare service company. MivaTek changes the way people protect their loved ones, property, and possessions with solutions that integrate connected devices, cloud backup, and complete control from a single mobile app. The name MivaTek, shorthand for “Mobile Interactive Video Assurance Technology,” alludes to the mobile-enabled, video-integrated focus at the heart of MivaTek’s core product offerings.

Despite MivaTek’s status as a Silicon Valley startup, MivaTek products and solutions are the product of five years of R&D.

Prior to launching MivaTek in 2015, Liu co-founded and led California-based Oplink Communications, Inc., an optical network company. When Koch Industries/Molex acquired Oplink Communications in 2014, Liu led a team of investors and purchased the Oplink Connected portfolio back from Koch/Molex and used this technology to power MivaTek solutions.

Liu’s background includes engineering and serial entrepreneurship. After earning his Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering at California State University, Chico, he worked for companies including Mostek Semiconductor, Motorola Semiconductor, and National Semi.

Espen Schrøder Espen Schrøder, COO, sfty AS

Experienced entrepreneur with international background from USA, France and Scandinavia.

Joined sfty [safety] in 2013 as COO.

He is focused on driving growth of the Sfty MDU (Multi dwelling Unit) concept internationally – and adapting it locally to relevant rules and regulations.  Espen oversees all related operational and distribution, including the partner program.

Sfty  offer companies within insurance, broadband and utilities a unique plug and play safety concept, and enables them to enter an additional vertical and sell bundled together with existing products to decrease churn.  They introduce IoT to Building Safety/Building Management, to let owners keep an eye on the status of their property by apartment and zone. Sfty entered the building safety industry by challenging the existing and taking the position and use IoT to position the company as an Ecosystem Aggregator. For residents in a building, sfty introduced a social safety network for alarm and mission critical communication/information, distributed as a free app. This system and app is also a residents or tenants entry into the smart home.

With a disruptive price model they challenge the existing prices and services of the classical "safety" companies.

Prior to his current role, Espen was CEO of Skiinfo.com, a SaaS company sold to Vail Corporation, and before this he was Director of International sales for Oakley Sunglasses, travelling the world and setting up the distribution based out of the headquarters in California, and the European office in Paris.

After 13 years abroad, he now lives in Oslo, Norway where the Sfty AS headquarter is located.
