Paul Dawes Paul Dawes, Executive Vice President, General Manager, iControl Networks

Paul is the Executive Vice President, General Manager of the Silicon Valley Office for iControl Networks, responsible for the business unit that serves the telecommunications and home security industries. He joined the company in 2007, developed the business strategy, defined technology directions, and led three funding rounds (Series B – D) with top-tier Silicon Valley venture capital firms that resulted in a total of more than $125M in equity. At iControl, Paul drove a significant investment in IP, and is a co-inventor on over 20 issued and pending patents.

Paul has spent over 20 years in Silicon Valley creating, managing, and selling high-tech products and services. He has led sales teams in the broadband, enterprise and entertainment markets, and driven product management for both embedded systems and enterprise. Prior to iControl, he was a partner at Lockwood Capital, a technology investment team where he held the role of SVP, Worldwide Sales & Marketing for Liberate Technologies and helped drive the sale of Liberate to Comcast and Cox. Paul also led the sales team that closed deals with the largest US cable operators, enabling Liberate's 1999 IPO.

Prior to Liberate, Paul was VP, Sales & Marketing for VerdiSoft, a mobile software provider that became the foundation of Yahoo's Connected Life division (2005 acquisition). Earlier, he held product and business development roles at Gain Technologies, Tom Siebel's multimedia software company (1997 Sybase purchase). Paul started his career in software engineering, product marketing and sales at Integrated Systems, Inc., an embedded systems company (1990 IPO).

Paul holds a BSME degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MSME from Stanford University.  


Dick Seger Dick Seger, CEO and President, Securitas Direct - Verisure

Dick Seger founded Securitas Direct - Verisure in Sweden 1988 within Security company Securitas AB and was appointed the Managing Director.

In line with the international expansion Mr Seger was 1997 appointed Divisional Manager of Securitas Direct - Verisure. In 2006, the year the company was spun off from Securitas AB and its share was listed at the Nasdaq OMX Stockholm Exchange, Dick Seger was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer.

It was taken private from the Stockholm Stock Exchange by an EQT-led group in 2008. Bain Capital LLC and Hellman & Friedman LLC bought the unit  in 2011.

Securitas Direct - Verisure is a leading innovator and supplier of monitored home alarms and connected services for the Smart Home in Europe. The company has today 1.5 million customers in nine European and three Latin American countries who are served by 6,500 employees together with a large partner network.

Dick Seger holds a Master of Science from the Linköping University in Sweden and is born 1953.


Patrice Slupowski Patrice Slupowski, VP, Digital Innovation & Communities, Orange

Patrice Slupowski is Vice-President Digital Innovation & Communities running NExT.com, the innovation team of the New Growth Businesses Division of the France Telecom - Orange Group. The team is in charge of various innovative projects on mobile, PC, TV, tablets like TVcheck, Newsblend or Bodyguru and strongly involved in advanced social networks, content recommendation, social and interactive TV, personal data aggregation or e-education. Two of these projects have been nominated for the Mobile Global Awards by the GSMA.

Patrice Slupowski is a marketing expert in web 2.0, social networks, social TV, connected TV, wellness and personal data services and mobile multimedia services (apps, widget, etc.). He founded a company called Waptoo in 1999, one of the first companies to believe in the opportunities around mobile data, creating WAP and mobile services and proposing some automated mobile testing software, for companies and telcos. He sold the company to Lagardère Group in 2004 who appointed him as Development Director. He started his career in ticketing and evolved in the digital through the first intranet sites.

Patrice has been involved in the digital from the very first minute, connected from 1990. Patrice is a graduate in Information Science and Technology from Paris-Dauphine University.

Ajey Anand Ajey Anand, Chief Commercial Officer, NORIGIN MEDIA

Ajey Anand is Chief Commercial Officer of NORIGIN MEDIA. Ajey has previously worked at News Corp., building up a strong broadcasting and advertising sales background. Having worked in Asia for many years, he joined the company to help expand the services beyond Scandinavia into mainland Europe and the Americas. Ajey currently manages the Sales and Marketing activities of the company.


Alan Atkins Alan Atkins, VP and Global Head M2M, Wipro Technologies

Dr. Alan Atkins is Vice President and Global Head, M2M, Wipro Technologies. He has recently joined Wipro Technologies as part of their increased focus and investment in the M2M business. Starting my career with Raychem Corporation in England as a Senior technologist, I researched into the development of High Voltage polymer applications for the Power Utility market which lead to an invention (with two other colleagues) of fibre optic communications system applied to the power utilities high voltage network that would go on to revolutionise the deregulation of the telecommunications industry allowing new players to enter the market. The invention led to the formation of Focas Ltd where I was general manager and also responsible for all technical sales in the Nordic region. In 1993, Focas Ltd and Ericsson AB formed a joint venture based in Stockholm, Sweden to where I relocated to take the position of Managing Director. My position in Ericsson lead to the foundation of another Ericsson company and culminated in me taking the role of Vice President and head of all sales and marketing for Ericsson Network Technologies AB. After a two year break in the Middle East (Qatar, Oman and UAE) setting up a new IT and infrastructure company (FOSS PTY LTD), I returned to Sweden to join Atos Origin as Business Development Director focussing mainly on the Power Utility and Telecommunication industries. Through a series of divestures, mergers and acquisitions, my career continued with WM data, Logic and finally CGI where I was Global head of M2M having been in the business arena for over six years. I recently joined Wipro Technologies and Vice President and Global Head of M2M as part of their increased focus and investment in the M2M business.


Stuart Cleary Stuart Cleary, Director Product Marketing, Media, EMEA, Akamai

Stuart Cleary, Director for Media Products - Europe, Middle East, & Africa, Akamai Technologies, is responsible for providing in-region marketing and product expertise for Akamai’s media cloud technology business in EMEA.

With over 13 years experience leading international product marketing, field marketing and channel marketing in the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific, Stuart has been a frequent speaker at media industry events and seminars. Prior to Akamai he was Director of Product Marketing for the digital content services division of VeriSign, Inc. At VeriSign he launched the award winning VeriSign Intelligent CDN, a hybrid peer-to-peer CDN service for Media & Entertainment and large enterprises. Prior to VeriSign, Stuart lead GTM strategy at Kontiki, Inc., a leading provider of peer-to-peer media delivery services. At Kontiki he launched the industry award winning Kontiki Delivery Management System, deployed by leading global Fortune 500 companies such as Coca Cola, General Motors, Ernst & Young, and Autodesk. Prior to Kontiki, he was with Phoenix Technologies, where he held field and channel development roles within the internet appliances group.

Stuart is a graduate of the Institute of Technology, Dublin, Ireland and Pforzheim University, Germany, where he majored in International Marketing & European Languages. 


Richard Crossley Richard Crossley, Business Development Director for EMEA, Intel

Richard Crossley has been associated with the development and marketing of silicon solutions for Digital TV platforms since 1994. His career has encompassed all the primary elements in the CPE signal chain, from RF tuners thru DOCSIS modems, DVB demodulators, MPEG decoders and CAS systems. Richard joined Intel in 2005 through the acquisition by Intel of the CE Division of Zarlink Semiconductors, and in his current role of Business Development Director for Intel’s Service Provider Division has been a strong advocate of the home video gateway as a fundamental element of the future digital home.


Joe Dada Joe Dada, CEO, INSTEON

Mr. Dada is Founder and CEO of INSTEON. Dada’s vision is that “everything should talk to everything”, what now has become known as the Internet of Things. Joe is a prodigious inventor, one who always asks “why not?” and then is driven to create a better solution. Joe bootstrapped a start-up of INSTEON’s precursor Smarthome in 1992. Shortly after launching his first proprietary product in 1994, he launched one of the world’s first e-commerce sites Smarthome.com which is now the world’s largest retailer of connected home products. During the late 90’s, he acquired 2 product engineering firms to accelerate proprietary product development. After 5 years of intense development efforts, he released the patented, dual-band (RF and powerline), mesh networking INSTEON technology. INSTEON is the most reliable wireless technology of its type in the world and the clear leader in consumer adoption. In 2012 Dada took INSTEON international with product line releases in Europe and Australia/New Zealand. Releases in South America and Asia are under way. Dada is currently active in growing INSTEON’s distribution channel. INSTEON products are now retailed at Smarthome.com, Amazon.com, Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot.com in the US plus Best Buy, Future Shop and The Source in Canada. Dada holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in engineering and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana. Vishal Dhar Vishal Dhar, Co-founder & President of Marketing, iYogi

One of the things Vishal Dhar, Co-founder & President of Marketing at iYogi, learnt during his days in the creative scene in New York, as he dabbled in entertainment, publishing and the arts, was the importance of doing something new all the time. After setting up a gallery of contemporary art, he decided to venture into Public Relations, Content Marketing and creating Rich Databases for business media companies. And the journey just went on. He founded three companies before iYogi happened.

At iYogi he runs a tight, and fun, ship marketing its services across multiple geographies. On Fortune magazine’s list of Asia’s 25 hottest people in business last year, Vishal always has something to do or somewhere to go. Quite like iYogi itself, actually. 


Shane Dyer Shane Dyer, President, Arrayent

Prior to founding Arrayent, Shane was the co-founder and CTO of Propellerhead Studios, Inc., a design studio that specializes in consumer electronics products for young adults and children. Before co-founding Propellerhead Studios, Shane was the CEO of ActivePhoto, Inc. This venture backed digital imaging company partnered with Polaroid and Sprint to deliver internet connected digital camera systems to corporate customers such as Allstate Insurance, Kemper Insurance, and Levy Latham Global. Prior to starting ActivePhoto, Shane was a VLSI engineer at C-Cube Microsystems (now LSI logic) working on ASIC development for cable and satellite settop box design. Additionally, he was a Research Scientist at Rockwell Science Center, where he developed low-power wireless systems. Shane holds a B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from Stanford University.


Darren Fawcett Darren Fawcett, Chief Technical Engineer, PACE

Darren, is a key member of the Pace team. Integral in shaping the strategy that has transitioned the company to a STB vendor, to one that delivers solutions and converged services to the World’s largest Pay TV operators. Since 2010, in his role as CTE Darren has been responsible for Pace International’s technology portfolio, including the development and launch of enabling platforms needed to meet the converged market space, e.g. Media Gateways, Client Hardware and Software. Darren has over 20 years’ experience in the communication and media sector where he has specialised in leading teams and worked with key stakeholders, and standards bodies to ensure seamless transition of ideas through to solutions. 


Robin Ford Robin Ford, VP Business Development, Global Caché

Robin Ford is a co-founder and Vice President of Business Development at Global Caché, a leading manufacturer of WiFi and IP-enabling connectivity products for homes and businesses. Ford has more than 25 years of high tech sales, marketing, and business development experience involving enterprise software, display technologies, residential control, and automation and control in businesses and schools. With leadership roles in strategic partnering, joint ventures, and market positioning, she is responsible for Global Caché's strategic road map and product positioning. Ford was previously with GraphOn Corporation, where she was a co-founder and worked in various management positions, including sitting on the Board of Directors, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Executive Vice President of Investor Relations. She was responsible for directing activities related to going public and the company's listing on The NASDAQ Stock Market. Ford is an experienced presenter, with panels including China's Annual World Congress of U-Homes and Connectivity Week.


Mike Harris Mike Harris, CEO, Zonoff

As a successful serial entrepreneur, Mike Harris has founded and/or led numerous venture-backed technology companies to successful exits, including a NASDAQ IPO.

Mike’s most recent start-up, AnySource Media, was launched in 2006 and delivered a 4X return to investors 18 months after investment, when it was acquired by DivX in August of 2009. In June of 2010 DixX was acquired by Sonic Solutions, which in turn was acquired by Rovi (NASDAQ: ROVI) six months later. The original embedded software developed by AnySource still serves as the foundation for DivX TV, which can be found on LG’s line of connected Blu-Ray players. (Click here to see the actual DivX TV demo.) Just as AnySource provided core technology for “connected TV,” Mike’s vision for Zonoff is to provide the core technology for the “connected home.” Same concept… but a much bigger opportunity.

Early in Mike’s career, he was the founder and CTO of Ravisent Technologies Inc., a technology pioneer in the DVD industry. Ravisent won numerous business and technical accolades including Frost and Sullivan’s "Excellence in Strategy" award, the "Technology Pioneer" award from the World Economic Forum, and the Deloitte and Touche "Fast 500" award. The company won this last award three times, including one year when the company was ranked number 1 in its region and 9th nationally. Mike oversaw the development and adoption of Ravisent’s technology by leading PC and consumer electronics manufacturers, raising nearly $100M in venture and public financing, and ultimately achieving a $1B valuation on the NASDAQ market. Ravisent was ultimately acquired by STMicroelectronics, and Mike became its Group Vice President, Global Software Strategy.

After STMicroelectronics, Mike served as President of Digital 5, a venture backed software provider enabling streaming media content within the connected home, and later became President of OpenPeak, a provider of software for home media control. Mike is a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering.


Simon Harrison Simon Harrison, Product, Innovation, Technology & Trialling Manager, npower

Simon is approaching his 20th year of working in utilities in Great Britain, most of them working with metering of one flavour or another. He has been with the npower Smart Programme for nearly two years, following five years working at the Energy Retail Association as the technical lead on their ground breaking smart project. Prior to this he was with British Gas for 12 years in a number of metering and industry roles, usually at the leading edge of innovation and change. He was the author of several of the early key smart metering specification designs and documents, and has been an active participant in the UK Government programmes since their inception – particularly on the technologies of smart metering.

Having enjoyed the challenge of helping npower procure smart devices to meet the specifications he helped to create, he has recently moved into a role looking at the next steps for smart energy and the smart home, and is looking at the opportunities for optimising customer engagement and energy efficiency using new products and services. He’s responsible for npower’s smart technology roadmap, which will include meters, displays, and gateways amongst other clever things. He is also responsible for identifying opportunities for smart trials, and will look after the successful delivery of those activities – npower will be undertaking a number of pilots starting in the new year. 


Ralf Jacob Ralf Jacob, Head of Interactive Business Development, Viacom International Media Networks

Ralf Jacob is Head of Interactive Business Development at Viacom International Media Networks, where he is working on gamified mobile, online and Connected TV experiences. He strongly believes that Broadcasters need to push further in order to keep up with the fast change in media consumption patterns. With a several years background in app development, he created a wildly successful mobile German OTT service before joining Viacom in early 2013. He frequently speaks at industry conferences on topics such as app development, app monetization and the disruptive innovations in the TV ecosystem.


Benoit Joly Benoit Joly, SVP Marketing & Smart Life, Technicolor

Benoit Joly is building on over 15 years experience in developing business within the Telecom and Media industry. He started by 1997 at MCI WorldCom, responsible for the European portfolio of IP network solutions. Joining Technicolor in 2002, he helped create the Company's VoIP devices strategy, before leading by 2004 marketing and pre-sales for its world's leading IPTV and Mobile TV solution. He was then VP Digital Home Solutions, in charge of the company's Digital Home portfolio for cable and telecom operators. Now SVP Marketing, he oversees since 2010 the group's marketing plans. Benoit has a Master's Degree in Network and IT Engineering from E.S.I.E.E and an MBA from E.S.S.E.C, majored in Strategy and Marketing.


V. Rory Jones V. Rory Jones, President, PlanetEcosystems

Rory co-founded PlanetEcosystems after two decades leading business services organizations. This includes leading Business Value Associates, a premier tech sector strategy consulting firm, serving as SVP, Business Development with Nextera, a publicly traded technology services provider, and leading the US Shareholder Value consulting practice as a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, a leading global consultancy. Previously, Rory held senior executive positions at Thomson Electronics in Europe. Rory earned an MBA from the University of Chicago, a BSc in Engineering from the City University in London, and is a thought leader in technology, markets and finance; his book, Boosting Cash Flow & Shareholder Value, is published by John Wiley & Co.


Jim Kitchen Jim Kitchen, Vice President, Product Strategy, iControl Networks

Jim co-founded uControl, which merged with iControl in 2010, and is responsible for Product Strategy and Partner Management. Prior to iControl, Jim was at Motive and served in several capacities; Director of Product Marketing and Product Management responsible for Motive's premier next-generation products in IPTV and VoIP, and prior to that as Senior Director of Motive's Consulting Services Communications Practice running a team of 60 consultants and supporting personnel.

Prior to Motive, Jim was the President of a successful entertainment and marketing software consulting company in Los Angeles, California. He began his career by launching one of the first web-based services to offer real-time financial and news information where he served as Vice President of Software Development.

Michael Lantz is the CEO of Accedo, which he jointly founded in 2004. He has extensive experience in the converging telecom and media industries. Since founding Accedo, Michael has been driving development of innovative content offerings and applications for IPTV service providers and CE companies. Prior to setting up the company, Michael held roles at a Nordic management consultancy company, Digiscope and the medical IT company, CellaVision. Michael holds a Master of Science in Engineering Physics and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.


Mark Lee Mark Lee, Commercial Director, Intamac

Mark has a wealth of experience spanning more than 20 years in both the telecommunications and technology sectors. He started his career with Technology PLC (now Fujitsu), leaving to establish a start-up providing IT Asset Management services winning contracts valued at more than £10M with a blue chip client list. Mark joined managed network service provider Vanco in 2001 and became UK Sales Director from 2005-2008 and was responsible for generating new contract revenues in excess of £100M. He was UK and Nordics Sales Director with a top 5 global telecommunications provider from 2008 to 2010 before joining Easynet (formerly part of BSkyB) as Head of UK Sales where he was responsible for New Business, Account Management and Public Sector. He left Easynet in December 2011 to join Intamac. Mark is married with 2 children and lives in Cheshire.


Olaf Loerz Olaf Loerz, Director, Product Management, Rovi Corporation

Olaf Loerz is Director, Product Management at Rovi Corporation where he is responsible for driving the company’s international expansion roadmap for its TV & video data products including the company’s search and recommendations solutions. Based in Rovi’s London office, Olaf has over thirteen years experience in the entertainment and media technology industry.

Olaf joined Rovi from Stamintech Partners, where he advised a broad portfolio of clients from start-ups to corporates including Deutsche Telekom, Buongiorno/Lumata and Beyond Oblivion on new business opportunities in the digital content and music domain. Previous to his consulting role, Olaf led product management for Nokia Siemens Networks' white-label media service (M2Y) which served a global customer base. Earlier in his career, he consulted for leading enterprise software vendors such as Siebel, Oracle and IBM on numerous market and business development projects and campaigns across EMEA. In 2000, Olaf was hired by pioneering mobile social network, uboot.com, to launch its service in Germany and led the efforts in building brand credibility in the youth segment. Olaf started his professional career as an entrepreneur in the live music industry producing shows for acts such as Daft Punk, and The Roots, among others.

Olaf holds a Master’s degree in Commerce from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Sciences and Modern and Medieval History from University Heidelberg, Germany. He also holds a professional qualification in Marketing Communication. He is a Certified Scrum Product Owner and NLP Practitioner.


Matthieu Loreille Matthieu Loreille, Vice President and GM of Connected Home, Amdocs

Since early 2011, Matthieu has been responsible for creating, defining the strategy and launching the Amdocs Connected Home product line worldwide.

The Amdocs solution is based on a Saas model and breaks the traditional home services silos to address Home Security, Home Automation/Comfort, Energy Management and eHealth.

Prior to Amdocs, Matthieu was the Chief Marketing Officer at jNetX that got acquired by Amdocs in 2009. jNetX created a real-time Java-based Service Delivery Platform (SDP) for delivering mission critical value-added services to end-users. Matthieu also worked at Ericsson (in Sweeden), Optimus (in Portugal) and Orange (in France). Matthieu is graduated from Telecom Paris with specialties in Fixed and Mobile Telecom systems.

Within Deutsche Telekom’s Products and Innovation branch Klaus Milczewsky takes care for "Technology Management". He is actually in charge of assessing new and upcoming technologies and the development of new products and service concepts. Being connected with CE industry representatives and the joint development of new service ideas and concepts was always his personal passion. In 1996 he joined Deutsche Telekom’s internet service provider spin off “T-Online International AG” as on of the first one hundred employees. Mr. Milczewsky has a quite long track record developing communication services. His first job at former “Deutsche Bundespost” was the certification of TV terminals for “Bildschirmtext”, the first interactive videotext system in Germany in the mid 80ies. He was member and delegate of the Home Gateway Initiative from its early beginnings and still represents Deutsche Telekom in various standardization bodies and foras, like DLNA and WiFi Alliance. Klaus Milczewsky is a graduate from Ludwig Georgs Gymnasium (Darmstadt, classical education high school, 1977) and holds a diploma on electrical engineering (Dieburg 1981).


Francois Moreau de Saint Martin Francois Moreau de Saint Martin, CEO, Viaccess-Orca

François is the CEO of Viaccess-Orca, part of the France Telecom Orange Group. Prior to forming Viaccess-Orca, he served as the CEO of Viaccess since 2007 and during that time the company doubled its revenues and expanded its presence in LATAM, India and the United States.

As CEO of Viaccess, François successfully led the acquisition and integration of Orca Interactive in 2008 and most recently led the merger between Viaccess and Orca Interactive to form the new company, Viaccess-Orca.

Before joining Viaccess, François was the CTO of the content division of France Telecom for three years and led the deployment of IPTV services in France, Poland, Spain as well as leading the first launch of MPEG4 services in IPTV, music download and streaming projects and VOD for PC services.

François began his career at France Telecom in1993 as Research and Development engineer and has extensive experience in multimedia and content.

From 1996 to 1998, François worked within the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry on a project dedicated to digital television, where he devoted his time to the audiovisual market. Between 1998 and 2001, he was head of the technical department at TDF in charge of multimedia broadcasting and Pay TV services. In 2001, he joined Transpac’s Internet and hosting services division before returning to France Telecom in 2004 to create the technical department of the content division.

François graduated from Ecole Polytechnique Paris and Telecom ParisTech.


Johan Nilsson Johan Nilsson, Head of Analysis & Competitive Intelligence, ComHem

Johan has vast experience from the pay-tv and broadband operator industry. He has worked with industry strategy and product/business development, as well as more operational sales oriented responsibilities within customer up-sell, retention, CRM etc. Before he came into the industry Johan worked as a management consultant, focusing on sales and marketing related business issues.

Currently, Johan is responsible for the Analysis & Competitive Intelligence team at Com Hem, where his team helps the whole company in making better decisions. This is done using internal customer data insights as well as external market intelligence and customer research.

Within internal customer data, his team focuses on understanding customer sales, churn and tier movement patterns as well as trying to predict future behavior based on predictive analysis modeling.

Within market intelligence his teams responsibility includes competitor analysis, customer and brand related research, product trend analysis, strategic market development, product related consumer research etc.

Through all this Johan has a very good picture of what is happening in the market and what’s inside the customers head! 


Maria Nordgren Maria Nordgren, Vice President, Consumer Security Business Line, F-Secure

Maria Nordgren is the Vice President, Consumer Security of F-Secure Corporation. Prior to that she served as Vice President, Channel Business, Vice President, Corporate Business and has been a member of the Leadership Team since 2010. Ms. Nordgren joined F-Secure international Sales unit in 2005. In her earlier career she held management positions in Finnish software companies such as DeskArtes which she co-founded and later headed.
