Jon leads UK Business Development for DT’s white label and open connected home platform.

Successfully launched in Germany in late 2013, DT’s open platform is now available internationally, with an initial focus on Europe, and particularly the UK. DT’s platform has been designed to move the industry beyond simple control of connected devices, to create a foundation for new revenue generating services.

Jon’s focus is on establishing partnerships with telcos, utilities, insurers and retailers, as well as 3rd party platform providers and OEMs to enable the realization of innovative new products and services.

Jon has worked in and around the connected home space since the early 2000s, and has a deep knowledge of the market, and in particular what will finally drive growth in this market.  


Ken Durand Ken Durand, Vice President, Innovation and Business Development, Ericsson

With a wide and varied background of business experience, Ken has extensive expertise in guiding organizations through the strategic processes of implementing technology solutions that complement the Enterprise business vision. An insightful strategist with a wide range of experiences, Ken engages some of Ericsson’s highest profile clients and works within its largest implementations. In his current role within the Business and Support Solutions (BUSS) organization, Ken leads the Innovation and Business Development function for Machine to Machine; defining business strategies for the full range of solutions within the M2M portfolio. Through facilitation of interactions around the world with current and potential customers as well as the partner ecosystem community, Ken gains keen insight into the needs and desires of both the consumer marketplace and the providers who serve it. Oliver Lewis Oliver Lewis, Senior Vice President, Customer Propositions and Product Management, Sky Deutschland

Oliver Lewis is Senior Vice President Product Management at Sky Deutschland. He is responsible for the coordination of marketing, sales and customer relationship management for existing and new products. He joined Sky Deutschland in 2009 and worked on several key projects, including the launch of Sky Go, Sky’s online and mobile OTT proposition and the renewal of Sky’s Bundesliga rights until 2017. Previously, Oliver held a number of positions at British Sky Broadcasting. After joining in 2001, he was involved in financing and M&A and worked on the acquisition of Easynet followed by the launch of Sky’s broadband service. In 2007, he was appointed Commercial Director at Sky News, with responsibilities including development of new revenue streams, online partnerships and finance. Before joining BSkyB, he studied physics at Cambridge, completed an MBA at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, and worked in corporate finance at ING Barings in London and Paris.


Greg Roberts Greg Roberts, Vice President, Marketing, Icontrol Networks

Greg Roberts serves as the vice president of marketing for Icontrol Networks. Roberts started with Icontrol in 2006 and leads all marketing and brand initiatives for the company. Roberts' career features a celebrated track record of leadership and success in strategic branding and management for a range of tech companies. He has been instrumental in the successful launch of numerous consumer and B2B marketing campaigns. During his time at Icontrol, he has driven notable business results focused on customer acquisition and retention, leading to increased market share and international expansion. Previously, Roberts was vice president of marketing at Helio, a MVNO startup, where he led all marketing initiatives and brand management, and helped expand and broaden the company's customer portfolio. He also played a critical role in the launch of Helio and Helio Powered By SK Telecom, which received critical acclaim from the industry. Prior to Helio, Roberts was the vice president of marketing for Disney Mobile, an MVNO project by The Walt Disney Company. He also served as the director of national marketing at SBC Wireless. There, he developed and led award-winning marketing initiatives to help launch Cingular Wireless. Roberts was recognized by Wireless World Magazine and Brandweek for the campaign's pioneering approaches to youth marketing, which have since been adapted as best practices by the mobile industry. Roberts began his career with top brand marketing and design companies including The Richards Group, Tracy Locke, DDB Needham and GSD&M. He received a Master of Arts in communications from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from University of North Texas.

He has more than 15 year’s broad background in international business development, management and product management within Security and Telecom business. Michel Arrede heads up the Marketing for Amdocs Connected Home solutions worldwide. This includes strategic aspects such as market analysis, competitive analysis and market positioning (competitive advantages), and operational aspects such as product, pricing, promotion and distribution.

Previously at jNetX (acquired by Amdocs in 2009 for $50M), Michel headed up the marketing pricing and promotion functions for jNetX Next Generation Intelligent Networks (NGIN) platform with involvement in strategic corporate activities such as business analysis (market size, customers’ needs, competitors) and market positioning.

Earlier at HP, Michel was responsible for product marketing and business development efforts for SDP based solutions. He managed and grew several software businesses in Europe and worldwide using direct and indirect go-to-market growth strategies.

Prior to this Michel held various product management and product marketing positions at Lucent Technologies (now Alcatel-Lucent) and at Atos-Origin.

Michel graduated from ESIGETEL, France, as a Telecommunication Engineer, and has regularly developed and improved Marketing, Finance and Operations skills through Harvard Business School ManageMentor Program and Ongoing Learnings (e.g. Philip Kotler).


Avi Barel Avi Barel, Business Development Director, ULE Alliance

Avi serves as Business development director at the ULE Alliance since 2013. Has over 30 years experience in the semiconductor industry. Before joining the ULE Alliance served as Corporate VP of Sales at DSP Group for 8 years. Beforehand held variety of engineering and business management positions at National Semiconductor, Winbond and other companies. Holds M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Hebrew University, Jerusalem.

She is an author of several international publications. In her spare time Regina loves to take care of her citron and orange trees in her garden in the south of France.

As IoE Evangelist and Vice President of the Internet of Everything (IoE) Practice in the Cisco Consulting Services (CCS) organization, Joseph M. Bradley ensures the world’s top business and public sector leaders understand how to capture their share of $19 trillion in value that IoE will create over 10 years. In this capacity, he leads a team of technology and business consultants who are uniquely qualified to assist CXOs, government leaders, and their management teams to realize the potential of IoE in today’s rapidly changing world caused by the convergence of mobile, social, data, and cloud computing.

Bradley was instrumental in developing the next-generation consulting model for CCS. The methodology provides a data-driven path to outlining what customers need to do today to capture value from IoE. Further, the model leverages the IoE Practice’s proprietary customer research and network analytics to identify hidden value that can be realized by lighting up “dark assets.” CCS helps customers move from their current state of operations to an IoE-enabled enterprise through the use of rapid prototyping, analytics, and process change. Once the methodology is complete, the customer has the ability to innovate, which provides a feedback loop to enable continuous improvement.

Bradley built the foundation for CCS and the IoE Practice by directing the research and production of Cisco’s influential IoE thought leadership titled, “Embracing the Internet of Everything To Capture Your Share of $14.4 Trillion” and “Internet of Everything (IoE) Value Index: How Much Value Are Private Sector Firms Capturing from IoE in 2013?” This project was followed by further groundbreaking research that showed the total IoE value at stake for both enterprises and public sector organizations to be $19 trillion.

Prior to his current role, Bradley led the Research & Economics, Strategic Communications, and Operations functions of the Cisco Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG), now part of Cisco Consulting. In this capacity, Bradley co-authored “The 21st Century Corporation: Using Business Virtualization To Unleash the True Power of Innovation.” In addition, he co-authored papers for Cisco’s Horizons program, including “Impact of Cloud on IT Consumption Models” and “BYOD: A Global Perspective.”

Bradley’s dynamic and engaging style, combined with his passion for disruptive technologies, inclusion and diversity, and the role people play in driving technology innovation to create a better world, have made him a popular speaker and thought leader worldwide as well as within Cisco. His recent industry keynotes include, The Mobile Show Middle East 2014 and Cisco Connect in Chengdu, China. Additionally, his work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, InfoWorld, and The Financial Times. Bradley’s recent EBCs include meeting with CXOs at the world’s top companies including Honda, MetLife, Nestle, and the US Olympic Committee.

Before Cisco, Bradley held several leadership positions at C3, including CEO, CFO, and senior vice president of shared services. Previously, he was general manager of the Data Communications group at AT&T. His career began at Pacific Bell, where he worked in finance and operations, and became known as a “turnaround expert.” Bradley holds a degree in economics from the University of California at Berkeley.


Cornel Ciocirlan Cornel Ciocirlan, CTO EMEA, ARRIS

Cornel joined ARRIS in 2000 and has been nominated CTO EMEA at ARRIS following the acquisition of Motorola Home by ARRIS. In this role he is responsible for the technology direction in EMEA regions with focus on the Transition to all IP, Connecting to the Cloud and End-To-End Multiscreen. Cornel previously worked as VP Sales Engineering EMEA, leading a team of highly skilled systems engineers who analyzed customer needs and provided solutions and consultancy for network design and configuration to service providers across EMEA.

Prior to joining ARRIS, between 1997 and 2000, Cornel was Technical Director at Romania Data Systems and in this role was responsible for the engineering and build up of the Romania Data Systems network, the largest Internet Service Provider in Romania. Cornel has studied Mathematics & Computer Science at Bucharest University in Romania. 


Eamon Conway Eamon Conway, Managing Director and Co-Founder, climote

Eamon Conway, Managing Director and Co-Founder of climote and has over 25 years experience in the consumer technology sector. He joined the team as Managing Director in 2010 and now oversees the day-to-day operations of the company and its rapidly growing interests. Prior to his work with climote. Mr. Conway served as the Managing Director of Honeywell’s Electrical Division in Ireland. Honeywell is a Global Fortune 100 company that invents and manufactures technologies that address tough challenges linked to global megatrends such as safety, security, and energy. Prior to Honeywell Ireland, Eamon set up Novar’s Electrical division in Ireland through the acquisition of OBF distributors in 2002, leading the company as Managing Director prior to its merger with Honeywell. Prior to that role Eamon was based in UK and was Director of Marketing for the popular Mira Showers line for Caradon Plumbing Solutions. Eamon is a graduate of the University of Wolverhampton.

Joe Dada, founder and CEO of INSTEON, is committed to offering affordable, simple and reliable connected home and business products.

An MBA graduate of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - College of Business, Dada moved to Southern California at the suggestion of a former professor and mentor. Initially working in the investment field, a trip to a franchise fair in Los Angeles introduced him to the potential of home automation.
In 1992 Dada founded Smarthome, a home automation product catalog company. Shortly after launching Smarthome’s first proprietary product in 1994, Dada launched Smarthome.com, one of the world's first e-commerce sites and now the world's largest retailer of connected home products.

During the late 90s, Dada acquired two product engineering firms to accelerate proprietary product development. After several years of intense development efforts, the company released the patented, dual-band (RF and powerline), mesh networking INSTEON technology in 2005, which has become one of the most popular home automation protocols in the world. In 2012, Dada gave the world the first network-controlled light bulb using INSTEON-enabled technology. Dada established INSTEON as a separate company from the Smarthome business.

Charles Dawes Charles Dawes, Global Strategic Account Director, Rovi

Charles is an authority in digital television product development and management, with over fourteen years of experience in helping bring entertainment content discovery and video delivery solutions to service providers and CE manufacturers across the globe. Since the time of his involvement in the development efforts for the first digital cable TV deployments in the U.K. in the late 90s to his present role at Rovi helping customers bring multi-screen, converged content experiences to consumers, Charles has kept his finger on the pulse of the digital entertainment transition across the ecosystem. A speaker at many industry events and conferences, Charles’ expertise includes guidance technologies, metadata, search and recommendations and personalization. In his current role at Rovi, Charles works closely with Rovi’s largest customers to help customize Rovi’s solutions to meet local market needs across EMEA and Latin America. Charles began his career at Cable and Wireless, where he was responsible for electronic program guide development. Prior to Rovi, Charles held the position of product management director at UPC/Chellomedia, where he oversaw UPC’s digital television product development across their European footprint.

Before joining CentraLite, Marco was the Managing Director (Media) Business Operations EMEA of Intermec, supplying Data collection solutions to 75% of the Fortune 500 companies. He was member of the EMEA Leadership Team and Global Media Operations Management Team. Prior Intermec Marco held senior positions at Konica Minolta and QMS. Shane is the founder and CEO of Arrayent. He is passionately engaged in communicating Arrayent’s vision for connected products and working with Arrayent’s customers to ensure that Arrayent’s long-term strategy is aligned with long-term customer needs. Before Arrayent, Shane was the co-founder and CTO of Propellerhead Studios, Inc., a design studio that specialized in consumer electronics products for young adults. In 1998, Shane became CEO of ActivePhoto, Inc., which partnered with Polaroid and Sprint to deliver Internet-connected digital camera systems to large enterprises such as Allstate and Kemper Insurance long before digital photography became mainstream. Darren Fawcett Darren Fawcett, Chief Technical Engineer, PACE

Darren, is a key member of the Pace team. Integral in shaping the strategy that has transitioned the company to a STB vendor, to one that delivers solutions and converged services to the World’s largest Pay TV operators. Since 2010, in his role as CTE Darren has been responsible for Pace International’s technology portfolio, including the development and launch of enabling platforms needed to meet the converged market space, e.g. Media Gateways, Client Hardware and Software. Darren has over 20 years’ experience in the communication and media sector where he has specialised in leading teams and worked with key stakeholders, and standards bodies to ensure seamless transition of ideas through to solutions. 


Andrew Ferrone Andrew Ferrone, VP of Pay TV, Roku

Andrew Ferrone is VP of Pay TV at Roku and is responsible for all pay TV deals including over-the-top multichannel services, managed network services, and co-branded device deals. Most recently Andrew was head of consumer product management at RealD, the leading licensor of 3D technologies. At RealD, Andrew drove product planning and commercial partnerships for a portfolio including content services, distribution technologies, and consumer devices. Andrew started his career at Videoguide, the leading licensor of interactive program guides for TVs and DVRs. Gemstar-TV Guide bought Videoguide which was then bought by Macrovision, now called Rovi. Andrew holds a B.A. in Computer Science and Digital Electronics from Dartmouth College.

David Friedman is the CEO and co-founder of Ayla Networks, a leading end-to-end cloud platform for the Internet of Things. Eric Grab Eric Grab, Chief Technology Officer, DivX, LLC

At DivX, Eric leads global engineering, technology industry relations, cross-company architecture and research. Eric is a technologist who has collaborated with Hollywood movie studios and consumer electronics companies to move forward the vision of easy and secure access to digital content. Enabled by significant jumps in video compression technology, he architected secure Internet video delivery systems, and extended them to consumer electronic devices. Eric has inventions in content distribution and content protection, and he has helped launch many successful services and products. Eric has worked on and evangelized state-of-the-art systems in government, education, and commercial including Booz Allen and Hamilton, DivX, Massive Media Group, Rovi, San Diego State University, and Walt Disney Studios.


Thomas Guss Thomas Guss, Business Development Manager, Watson Nordic

Mr. Thomas Guss joined Anvia Plc, the fourth largest operator in Finland, in 2006. At Anvia he has worked with various development projects, including customer loyalty programs and websites for easier buying for customers. He has played an active role in the Watson project and later on starting up the subsidiary company Watson Nordic Ltd. Mr. Guss works for both Anvia Plc and Watson Nordic Ltd as Business Development Manager. Earlier Mr. Guss worked for TeliaSonera with customer interaction development. Mr. Guss has a Master of Sciences (econ.) degree from Hanken School of Economics in Vaasa, Finland.


Benoit Joly Benoit Joly, SVP Marketing & Smart Life, Technicolor

Benoit Joly is building on over 15 years experience in developing business within the Telecom and Media industry. He started by 1997 at MCI WorldCom, responsible for the European portfolio of IP network solutions. Joining Technicolor in 2002, he helped create the Company's VoIP devices strategy, before leading by 2004 marketing and pre-sales for its world's leading IPTV and Mobile TV solution. He was then VP Digital Home Solutions, in charge of the company's Digital Home portfolio for cable and telecom operators. Now SVP Marketing, he oversees since 2010 the group's marketing plans. Benoit has a Master's Degree in Network and IT Engineering from E.S.I.E.E and an MBA from E.S.S.E.C, majored in Strategy and Marketing.


Sandeep Kalsi Sandeep Kalsi, Chief Marketing Officer, iYogi

Sandeep is an Economics graduate. Prior to his appointment at iYogi, he has been involved in advisory, consulting and Board roles for companies working in the technology, media and services sectors. At iYogi, he is currently part of a team driving the company’s global expansion to develop new products and services for the Smart Home and the “connected consumer.” A main focus area is to develop strategic relationships with global Telcos. Sandeep is currently also serving on the board of Denave Europe, and was formerly a Board Director of Next Fifteen Communications Group.


Jim Kitchen Jim Kitchen, VP, Strategy, Icontrol Networks

Jim co-founded uControl, which merged with Icontrol in 2010, and is responsible for Product Strategy and Partner Management. Prior to Icontrol, Jim was at Motive and served in several capacities; Director of Product Marketing and Product Management responsible for Motive's premier next-generation products in IPTV and VoIP, and prior to that as Senior Director of Motive's Consulting Services Communications Practice running a team of 60 consultants and supporting personnel.

Prior to Motive, Jim was the President of a successful entertainment and marketing software consulting company in Los Angeles, California. He began his career by launching one of the first web-based services to offer real-time financial and news information where he served as Vice President of Software Development.

David Leporini is the Executive Vice President of Marketing, Products and Security. Prior to this role, David was a member of the Executive Board of Viaccess and served as CTO since 2007. As CTO, David was head of system architecture and specifications, security and innovation. Prior to service as CTO, David was head of security for Viaccess since 2005.

Prior to joining Viaccess, David was Operations Manager for Trusted Logic and was responsible for security consultancy activities and quality management. He has held several positions in CANAL+ and CANAL+ Technologies including management of Digital Rights Management and Copy Protection activities.

Wojtek is in charge of defining the company’s overall technological strategy and of driving its innovation and strategic product vision to further position SoftAtHome as an industry leader. He is also Deputy Chairman of the Technical Working Group for the Home Gateway Initiative, mainly focused on the Media Gateway and Smart Home projects. Wojtek has 20+ years experience in the IT industry where he has held various product development and leadership positions. He has a strong multi-cultural business background - having served for several companies in different European countries, including France, Poland and the United Kingdom. Neil Pennington Neil Pennington, Director of Smart Innovation, nPower

Neil has been with npower since 2010. As Director of Smart Innovation, he is accountable for the development and implementation of market leading products and propositions covering customer engagement, insight, big data, smart grid and the connected world of the Internet of Things in the home. He was responsible for the first deal with nest in Europe as the energy channel partner for the UK. He is also a Board Director of Smart Energy GB (the central body responsible for customer engagement for the smart meter roll out) and is a frequent speaker at Industry events on Smart and Innovation in the energy market. In his previous role as Programme Director, Smart for npower, Neil was accountable for the c£250m programme covering business case, deployment, consumer engagement, innovation, the metering system ecosystem (meter, head end, comms, IHDs) and the IT change covering the full suite of SAP, MDMS and legacy systems. Neil has a career spanning 24 years in the Energy and Utility Sector, 16 of which have been in senior leadership roles. He has worked in engineering, operations, business development, marketing and strategy, as well as delivering significant IT and business change programmes. Neil joined British Gas in 1990 where he was responsible for, among other things, the introduction of Meter Reading Competition within the UK Gas Market, launching Affordable Warmth, microgeneration (DCHP) and was Deputy Chairman of the Combined Heat and Power Association. In 2000 he joined PwC Consulting, working on Energy projects and business development in the UK, Ireland and the Czech Republic. This included a significant bid for commercial meter operation; he also advised investors on asset ownership models. In 2003 he joined United Utilities as Business Development Director for Networks Ltd. As well as Business Development he had P&L responsibility for Energy Services, which included remote metering and energy profiling for Industrial and Commercial Customers. A Chartered Mechanical Engineer, Neil has an Honours Degree in Physics, a PhD in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the London Business School. In his spare time he is a keen musician and songwriter.

Gilles has more than 15 years experience in the area of high-tech industrials, focused on aligning cutting-edge innovation with strategic business objectives. Prior to the ZigBee Alliance, he worked for several blue chip multinationals in various management, R&D and consulting roles. Most recently, Gilles served as Manager Government Programs for Eaton Corporation, where he was in charge of European government relations, external R&D funding and technology ecosystem expansion in the region. Nicola Villa, a 16-year veteran of Cisco, is managing director of Cisco Consulting Services’ Global Analytics practice. Prior to working with CCS, Villa was a senior director in Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG), where he led the Global Public Sector Practice. His group engaged with globally innovative public sector organizations on open innovation programs in the central government, local government, education, and public safety spaces. In 2006, Villa incubated Cisco’s investments in the smart cities space by managing Cisco’s Connected Urban Development program. The program was part of the commitment Cisco provided to the Clinton Global Initiative, and it sought to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in large metropolitan areas through the development of innovative ICT and Big Data solutions.

Villa is an executive member of the board of the World Economic Forum’s Future of Urbanization program. He is also an adviser to Metropolis, the global network of metropolitan regions, through its Partnership for Urban Innovation commission.

Villa has also worked as head of local government and broadband within Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group. This placed him in charge of local government innovation activities across Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

In 1998, Villa developed and managed Cisco’s first Internet Commerce program, the world’s largest business-to-business e-commerce website at the time of its implementation.

Villa has a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, smart cities, and analytics-enabled new IT consumption models.
