François Girodolle François Girodolle, Head of Product Partnerships, Nest Europe, Nest Labs, Inc.

Francois is the head of European product partnerships at Nest, working closely with iconic brands including Whirlpool, Mercedes-Benz, and Philips Hue to create meaningful and thoughtful product integrations. Through the Works with Nest developer program, Nest and partners can build connections that anticipate people’s needs to make their lives easier.

Prior to Nest, Francois held senior product, marketing and business development roles at several major European tech players, as well as being an advisor to technology start-ups, and a judge and mentor in various globally-recognised innovation accelerators and competitions.

François holds a Master's degree in Engineering from Supelec, and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management (Sloan Fellows).

Christian Kurz Christian Kurz, SVP Research, Insights and Reporting, Viacom International Media Networks

Christian Kurz is Senior Vice President of Research, Insights and Reporting for Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN). Based in New York, Mr. Kurz is responsible for providing VIMN’s businesses and operations with strategic consumer-based research, as well as maintaining a consistent and strongly aligned research organization across VIMN. His guidance is used to inform international business decisions across all brands of the VIMN portfolio, such as MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central, on all platforms.

Mr. Kurz holds more than 15 years of experience in research in the media industry. He first joined VIMN in January 2011 as Senior Director, Nickelodeon International Research and Insights, where he aligned Nickelodeon’s international reporting processes and launched key insight initiatives, including The Power of Kids’ Influence under the Nickelodeon Kids & Family GPS banner. Prior to joining VIMN, Mr. Kurz worked at Discovery Networks as Insights Director, Emerging Markets. Before that, he was Director of Brand Strategy and Marketing Research in EMEA for Disney-ABC Networks Group. He has also held research roles at Warner Bros., Interpublic Group and ITV in the UK.

Born in Austria, Mr. Kurz holds degrees from the University of Economics and Business Administration in Vienna, Westminster University in London and the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Until his move to New York, he also lectured part time at the University of London’s Birkbeck College in the fields of business, marketing and media. 

Greg Roberts Greg Roberts, Vice President, Marketing, Icontrol Networks

Greg Roberts serves as the vice president of marketing for Icontrol Networks. Roberts started with Icontrol in 2006 and leads all corporate marketing and marketing communications initiatives for the company. Roberts’ career features a celebrated track record of leadership and success in strategic branding and management for a range of tech companies. He has been instrumental in the successful launch of numerous consumer and B2B marketing campaigns. During his time at Icontrol, he has driven notable business results focused on customer acquisition and retention, leading to increased market share and international expansion. Previously, Roberts was vice president of marketing at Helio, a MVNO startup, where he led all marketing initiatives and brand management, and helped expand and broaden the company’s customer portfolio. He also played a critical role in the launch of Helio and Helio Powered By SK Telecom, which received critical acclaim from the industry. Prior to Helio, Roberts was the vice president of marketing for Disney Mobile, an MVNO project by The Walt Disney Company. He also served as the director of national marketing at SBC Wireless. There, he developed and led award-winning marketing initiatives to help launch Cingular Wireless (now AT&T). Roberts was recognized by Wireless World Magazine and Brandweek for the campaign’s pioneering approaches to youth marketing, which have since been adapted as best practices by the mobile industry. Roberts began his career with top brand marketing and design companies including The Richards Group, Tracy Locke, DDB Needham and GSD&M. He received a Master of Arts in communications from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from University of North Texas.


Johan Ambuhm Johan Ambuhm, Vice President, Business Development & Digital Solutions, Inwido AB

Johan Ambuhm serves as Vice President, Business Development & Digital Solutions at Inwido AB, Europe’s largest Window and Door manufacturer. He has more than 15 year’s broad background in international business development, management and product management within Security and Telecom business. Before joining Inwido, Johan was responsible for the ASSA ABLOY EMEA Smart Home integration business as a part of the Digital Dorr Lock rollout in EMEA. Prior to joining Assa Abloy, Johan has held senior management positions at both successful Software Startups and large global international market leading companies. Johans focus is to drive Inwidos digital journey and combine it with partnerships models within Security, Telcos, Utilities, Home Automation, and Health Care providers.

Michel Arrede Michel Arrede, Head of Marketing, Connected Home, Amdocs

Michel Arrede heads up the Marketing for Amdocs Connected Home solutions worldwide. This includes strategic aspects such as market analysis, competitive analysis and market positioning (competitive advantages), and operational aspects such as product, pricing, promotion and distribution.

Previously at jNetX (acquired by Amdocs in 2009 for $50M), Michel headed up the marketing operations (pricing and promotion) for jNetX Next Generation Intelligent Networks (NGIN) platform with involvement in strategic corporate functions including business analysis and market positioning.

Earlier at HP, Michel was responsible for product marketing for SDP based solutions. He managed and grew several software businesses in Europe and worldwide using direct and indirect go-to-market growth strategies. Prior to this Michel held various product management positions at Alcatel-Lucent and at Atos-Origin.

Michel graduated from ESIGETEL, France, as a Telecommunication Engineer, and has regularly developed and improved Marketing, Finance and Operations skills through Harvard Business School ManageMentor Program and Ongoing Learnings (e.g. Philip Kotler). 

Avi Barel Avi Barel, Director Business Development, ULE Alliance

Avi has over 30 years of broad high tech experience, ranging from software development, semiconductor, engineering and business management. Avi joined the ULE Alliance in April 2013 as the Director of Business Development. Prior to ULE Alliance, worked 10 years at DSP Group, serving as Corporate Vice President of sales for 8 years. Before joining DSP Group established and managed Winbond subsidiary in Israel for 5 years, developing semiconductor products for speech processing and communication, managing team of 50+ engineers. At National Semiconductor held variety of engineering, engineering management and business management positions; involved in development and management of award winning, innovative projects. Avi holds M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and B.Sc. degree in Mathematics and Physics from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Olivier Carmona Olivier Carmona, Member, Board of Directors Member, DLNA; Director of Business Development, AwoX, DLNA/AwoX

Olivier Carmona is Director of Business Development at AwoX, a company specialized in smart home. AwoX licenses smart home network protocol stack to consumer electronics and service provider, and AwoX designs, manufacture, develops smart home products, innovative light bulbs under AwoX brand, and hi-quality multiroom speaker under Cabasse brand. He has been with the company since 2005. In this role, he is responsible for AwoX’s standardization, and evangelism. Prior to which he worked in the area of embedded system design and manufacturing. Carmona is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) and a member of the UPnP Steering Committee. Carmona holds a Master of Science in Electronic Engineering from Centrale Marseille.

Jon Carter Jon Carter, UK Head of Business Development – Connected Home, Deutsche Telekom AG

Jon leads Business Development for Deutsche Telekom’s white label and open connected home platform, with a specific focus on the UK market.

Successfully launched in Germany in late 2013, Deutsche Telekom’s open platform is now available internationally, with a principle focus on Europe. Deutsche Telekom’s platform has been designed to move the industry beyond simple control of connected devices, to create a foundation for new revenue generating services.

In the UK, Jon’s focus is on establishing partnerships with telcos, utilities, insurers and retailers, as well as third party platform providers and OEMs to enable the realization of innovative new models and revenue generating services.

Jon has worked in and around the connected home space since the early 2000s, and has a deep knowledge of the UK and European market, and in particular what will finally drive growth in this market. He has previously consulted for both E.ON Group and RWE UK on their connected home strategies, including the latter’s partnership with Google’s Nest.

Prior to joining Deutsche Telekom, Jon worked several years for a boutique innovation consultancy, and before that was 12 years at Orange, where amongst other things he led Orange UK’s R&D initiative on the connected home, as well as being Head of Strategy and subsequently Head of Propositions.  

Bulent Celebi Bulent Celebi, Co-Founder and Chairman, AirTies Wireless Networks

Bulent Celebi co-founded AirTies in 2004 with the vision of becoming the leader of wireless home media networking products that integrate free, purchased and personal content. After working as an engineer, Celebi joined National Semiconductor in Hong Kong as the Marketing Director for Asia. Later he returned to the US and became the driving force behind the technology that enabled multifunction printer/fax/scanner devices. Celebi played an active role in making his company the leader in the 10/100 Mbps Ethernet market. After National Semiconductor, Celebi served as Vice President & GM at Analog Devices running a successful $250 million division. Prior to founding AirTies, he served as the CEO of VC backed Ubicom, a network processor for WLAN applications. Celebi’s success in technical innovations resulted in his recognition as one of the “Top 10 Innovators” by the Red Herring Magazine, a reputable reference in the IT industry. Bulent Celebi attended the University of California, Berkeley and studied Electronics and Computer Engineering. He later attended the Stanford/AEA executive program.

Cornel Ciocirlan Cornel Ciocirlan, CTO EMEA, ARRIS

Cornel joined ARRIS in 2000 and has been nominated CTO EMEA at ARRIS following the acquisition of Motorola Home by ARRIS. In this role he is responsible for the technology direction in EMEA regions with focus on the Transition to all IP, Connecting to the Cloud and End-To-End Multiscreen. Cornel previously worked as VP Sales Engineering EMEA, leading a team of highly skilled systems engineers who analyzed customer needs and provided solutions and consultancy for network design and configuration to service providers across EMEA.

Prior to joining ARRIS, between 1997 and 2000, Cornel was Technical Director at Romania Data Systems and in this role was responsible for the engineering and build up of the Romania Data Systems network, the largest Internet Service Provider in Romania. Cornel has studied Mathematics & Computer Science at Bucharest University in Romania.  

Richard Collins Richard Collins, Smart Home Expert, Neotion

Richard Collins is an experienced operator with more than 20 years’ experience across media and broadcast technology, he is currently focused on developing UX and UI Smarthome solutions at Neotion, where he has worked on a wide variety of projects since 2012.

Neotion is a Broadcast technology innovation company, who recently expanded into the smart home market at IBC 2015 with a TV centric smart home solution.  

Eamon Conway Eamon Conway, Managing Director, climote

Eamon Conway, Managing Director and Co-Founder of climote and has over 25 years, experience in the consumer technology sector. He joined the team as Managing Director in 2010 and now oversees the day-to-day operations of the company and its rapidly growing interests. Prior to his work with climote, Mr. Conway served as the Managing Director of Honeywell’s Electrical Division in Ireland. Honeywell is a Global Fortune 100 company that invents and manufactures technologies that address tough challenges linked to global megatrends such as safety, security, and energy. Prior to Honeywell Ireland, Eamon set up Novar’s Electrical division in Ireland through the acquisition of OBF distributors in 2002, leading the company as Managing Director prior to its merger with Honeywell. Prior to that role Eamon was based in UK and was Director of Marketing for the popular Mira Showers line for Caradon Plumbing Solutions. Eamon is a graduate of the University of Wolverhampton.

Shane founded Arrayent in 2005. He is passionately engaged in communicating Arrayent’s vision for connected products and working with Arrayent’s customers to ensure that Arrayent’s long-term strategy is aligned with long-term customer needs. Before Arrayent, Shane was the co-founder and CTO of Propellerhead Studios, Inc., a design studio that specialized in consumer electronics products for young adults. In 1998, Shane became CEO of ActivePhoto, Inc., which partnered with Polaroid and Sprint to deliver Internet-connected digital camera systems to large enterprises such as Allstate and Kemper Insurance long before digital photography became mainstream. Shane began his career as a researcher at Rockwell Science Center, where he developed new networking algorithms for low-power wireless systems. Later he became a VLSI design engineer at C-Cube Microsystems working on cable and satellite set-top box designs. Shane holds a B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from Stanford University.

Andrew Ferrone Andrew Ferrone, VP of Pay TV, Roku

Andrew Ferrone is VP of Pay TV at Roku and is responsible for all pay TV deals including over-the-top multichannel services, managed network services, and co-branded device deals. Most recently Andrew was head of consumer product management at RealD, the leading licensor of 3D technologies. At RealD, Andrew drove product planning and commercial partnerships for a portfolio including content services, distribution technologies, and consumer devices. Andrew started his career at Videoguide, the leading licensor of interactive program guides for TVs and DVRs. Gemstar-TV Guide bought Videoguide which was then bought by Macrovision, now called Rovi. Andrew holds a B.A. in Computer Science and Digital Electronics from Dartmouth College.

Carl Furgusson Carl Furgusson, Head of Strategy, Compression Business, Ericsson

Carl is Head of Strategy, Compression Business with Ericsson where he is responsible for leading the strategy of the Ericsson Compression team in answering the needs of a rapidly changing broadcasting marketplace. He focuses on the drivers, business cases, new technology and end-to-end readiness required for successful solution deployment, such as the efficient delivery of UHDTV (4K) and HEVC.

Prior to this role, Carl was Head of Product and Segment Management, Ericsson and over the past 20 years in the digital TV marketplace he has worked on new technologies and solutions for digital video delivery over Contribution & Distribution, Cable, Satellite, Terrestrial and Telco networks.

He graduated with a B.Eng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from University of Manchester, before spending a number of years designing consumer electronic products.

Kevin Garton Kevin Garton, Chief Marketing Officer, Zonoff

With a diverse background in marketing, product development, sales and operations in the technology, consumer products and financial services industries with some of the world’s most recognized brands, Kevin brings more than 28 years of expertise to Zonoff. Throughout his career Kevin has proven his ability to drive the growth of both large and entrepreneurial business-to-business and consumer brands by developing differentiating strategies and implementing creative go-to-market plans. At Zonoff, Kevin is responsible for corporate strategy, marketing and business development. Prior to Zonoff, Kevin served as Managing Director and Chief Marketing Officer for Context Asset Management, where he led the start-up company in the alternative asset management industry from concept to business launch. Before that, Kevin was Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer for Neat, a Philadelphia-based software and services firm. Rags has been in digital media since 1999; he was part of Brightcove’s founding management team and earlier was COO for the internet radio network, Live 365.

Thomas Guss Thomas Guss, Head of Business Development at Watson Nordic, Watson Nordic

Mr. Thomas Guss joined Anvia Plc, the fourth largest operator in Finland, in 2006. At Anvia he has worked with various development projects, including customer loyalty programs and websites for easier buying for customers. He has played an active role in the Watson project and later on starting up the subsidiary company Watson Nordic Ltd. Mr. Guss works for both Anvia Plc and Watson Nordic Ltd as Business Development Manager. Earlier Mr. Guss worked for TeliaSonera with customer interaction development. Mr. Guss has a Master of Sciences (econ.) degree from Hanken School of Economics in Vaasa, Finland.

Before that, Kurt led LG’s strategic go-to-market engagements for Smart TV, wearables, multi-screen, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Kurt previously held business development, product marketing, and product management leadership roles at Paul Allen’s Digeo/MOXI, 2Wire and Amdocs, working with customers such as AT&T, Time Warner Cable, DISH and Best Buy, to name a few. Kurt graduated at the top of his Computer Science class at the Royal Military College of Canada and studied Human Computer Interaction at the University of British Columbia. 

Scott Hublou Scott Hublou, VP of Global Connected Services, Salus

Scott Hublou is currently the VP of Global Connected Services for Salus, an international brand in the home control market. Deployed in 14 countries worldwide, the Salus Connected Home solution is one of the largest international players in the Connected/Smart home industry. Scott is a leading voice in the clean tech and energy industries, through his consumer advocacy in the residential energy efficiency space. He is a frequent speaker on emerging smart grid technologies and the important role that smart homes play in creating a truly efficient energy system. Prior to Salus, Scott was the Founder of EcoFactor, North America’s leading Electric Utility solution Demand Side energy management CEO of Sapria Technology Group, a product strategy-consulting firm with clients including BlueShield, Oracle, Peoplesoft, SAP, and HP. Before heading Sapria, Scott was the CEO of Asimba, a SaaS based business intelligence and CRM solution for the online and brick-n-mortar fitness and nutrition industry. Scott has been a regular guest lecturer at both Stanford and the University of California at Berkeley business schools, sharing his knowledge and expertise on innovative business strategy, business intelligence and SaaS platforms.

Farah Khan Farah Khan, Director – Business Development, CSS Corp

Farah Khan heads the business development for CSS Corp in the Europe region. With a diverse background in Customer Engagement, Service Innovation, Research and Consulting, Farah brings more than 16 years of expertise in IT and Telecoms industry with particular emphasis to consumer value-add in the context of seamless service propositions. Farah has proven her ability to identify strategic drivers and develop innovative value-propositions, by being a customer focused, value-driven business leader with a proactive approach towards identifying business transformation opportunities.

Prior to joining CSS Corp, Farah has led global high-impact customer programs while working at Cisco, Everything Everywhere and Motorola responsible for creating consumer roadmaps coupled with excellent cross-discipline team management skills to drive customer success and business growth.

Farah holds a Masters in Information Systems degree from University of Surrey and an MBA degree from Imperial College of London. She also received a ‘Leadership and Program Management’ certification from Stanford University. During her free time, Farah volunteers for issues related to Education, Environment and Science & Technology.   

Mitch Klein Mitch Klein, Executive Director, Z-Wave Alliance

Mitchell Klein joined the Z-Wave Alliance in September 2015 with over 30 years of experience as a results-driven leader in the CE and smart home industries. As the director of business development for Universal Remote Control for eight years, Klein was a key member of the senior team that grew URC from a remote control company to a smart home integration system supplier to the CEDIA channel. He transformed the company into a dealer-focused system supplier by developing multi-level strategies for new products and dealer training.

The CEO at the award-winning integration firm Media Systems for 14 years, Mitchell also co-founded industry consulting firm StayTuned LLC and launched CEDIA’s certification program, it’s first regional events and media tours as its two-term president. In these positions, he elevated each company by developing unique approaches to drive sales, launch products and coordinate teams across departments.

Mitchell is a CEDIA Fellow and committee chair and has been a feature columnist for Technology Integrator, Systems Contractor News, and Residential Systems; a blogger on CEPro.com, a guest on AV Nation video podcasts and a speaker at CEDIA, Infocomm, NSCA and CEA.

Contributing to his Bachelor of Science in business management with a minor in economics from State University of New York College at Oswego, Mitchell has been recognized with over 22 awards including the 2011, 2012 and 2013 CEPro Quest for Quality Platinum Award Winner for Best Training, the inaugural CEPro Dealer of the year (1996) and the 2003 Dealer of the Year – CEA/TechHome Mark of Excellence Award.

Holger Knöpke Holger Knöpke, Vice President Connected Home, Deutsche Telekom AG

Holger Knöpke, born in 1966, has been in charge of Deutsche Telekom AG’s QIVICON Smart Home platform business since the beginning of 2011. He previously worked for Deutsche Telekom in various management positions in Strategy, Products & Innovation, and Customer Marketing in Germany and the United States. Earlier stages in his career included consulting work in communications, computing and the media business with management consultants Booz Allen & Hamilton in Düsseldorf and Frankfurt and several positions in Product Management with Unilever in Hamburg.

Oliver Lewis Oliver Lewis, SVP Customer Planning & Analysis, Sky Deutschland

Oliver Lewis is Senior Vice President Product Management at Sky Deutschland. He is responsible for the coordination of marketing, sales and customer relationship management for existing and new products. He joined Sky Deutschland in 2009 and worked on several key projects, including the launch of Sky Go, Sky’s online and mobile OTT proposition and the renewal of Sky’s Bundesliga rights until 2017. Previously, Oliver held a number of positions at British Sky Broadcasting. After joining in 2001, he was involved in financing and M&A and worked on the acquisition of Easynet followed by the launch of Sky’s broadband service. In 2007, he was appointed Commercial Director at Sky News, with responsibilities including development of new revenue streams, online partnerships and finance. Before joining BSkyB, he studied physics at Cambridge, completed an MBA at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, and worked in corporate finance at ING Barings in London and Paris.

Joe Liu Joe Liu, CEO, MivaTek

Joe Liu currently leads strategy and operations at MivaTek, a smart home and healthcare service company. MivaTek changes the way people protect their loved ones, property, and possessions with solutions that integrate connected devices, cloud backup, and complete control from a single mobile app. The name MivaTek, shorthand for “Mobile Interactive Video Assurance Technology,” alludes to the mobile-enabled, video-integrated focus at the heart of MivaTek’s core product offerings.

Despite MivaTek’s status as a Silicon Valley startup, MivaTek products and solutions are the product of five years of R&D.

Prior to launching MivaTek in 2015, Liu co-founded and led California-based Oplink Communications, Inc., an optical network company. When Koch Industries/Molex acquired Oplink Communications in 2014, Liu led a team of investors and purchased the Oplink Connected portfolio back from Koch/Molex and used this technology to power MivaTek solutions.

Liu’s background includes engineering and serial entrepreneurship. After earning his Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering at California State University, Chico, he worked for companies including Mostek Semiconductor, Motorola Semiconductor, and National Semi.

As his first entrepreneurial project, Liu formed Techlink Equipment and Technology in 1985, specializing in semiconductor capital equipment. He went on to co-found BCD Semiconductor, Vertex Networks, Syscan Systems, PMC Semiconductor, AAC Semi, and Integrated Silicon Solutions Inc.

Klaus Milczewsky Klaus Milczewsky, Senior Manager, Deutsche Telekom AG

Within Deutsche Telekom’s Group Innovation branch Klaus Milczewsky takes care for “Technology Management”. He is quite active by assessing new and upcoming technologies and the development of new products and service concepts.

Being connected with CE industry representatives and the joint development of new service ideas and concepts was always his personal passion. In 1996 he joined Deutsche Telekom’s internet service provider spin off “T-Online International AG” as on of the first one hundred employees.

Mr. Milczewsky has a quite long track record developing communication services. His first job at former “Deutsche Bundespost” was the certification of TV terminals for “Bildschirmtext”, the first interactive videotext system in Germany in the mid 80ies.

He was member and delegate of the Home Gateway Initiative from its early beginnings and is still representing Deutsche Telekom in selected standardization bodies and foras, like ULE and WiFi Alliance.
