Home security owners part of early market for connected health home living services

Fifth-annual Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers focuses on connected health solutions to enable independent living and improved wellness

International research firm Parks Associates today announced the topics and call for speaker submissions for the fifth-annual Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers on August 28-30 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego. This year’s summit will address business strategies and consumer demand regarding connected health and virtual care solutions, including strategic insights on consumer segments most likely to be among the strongest early adopters for smart health solutions.

Parks Associates’ 360 View Update: Smart Home, Caregiving, and Aging-in-Place reports that 52% of U.S. broadband households with a home security system are interested in at least one home living service, such alerts for family members about emergencies, alerts about dangers in the home, or concierge services offering health and retirement advice. Interest in these services is significantly higher among home security owners when compared to all U.S. broadband households, and they are also more willing to pay for these services.

“Security ownership predisposes consumers toward home living services,” said Jennifer Kent, Director, Research Quality & Product Development, Parks Associates. “These consumers will serve as the early market for connected health and independent living services, and layering home living services on top of a smart home system would give smart home solution providers a recurring source of revenue.”

The event’s Advisory Board includes executives from Best Buy, Care Innovations, Comcast, GreatCall, Life365, MDLIVE, Mosaic Growth Partners, Omron Healthcare, Orbita, and Walmart.

“Traditional care is expensive, complicated, and preferences on how consumers receive care are changing,” said Kent Dicks, CEO and Founder of Life365. “People want to receive care in the convenience of their homes, and health systems are responding with investments in connected health tools to meet this demand and lower their costs. The future of care delivery will be in the home, where technology can be used to treat, monitor and connect with patients 24/7.”

“Regarding AI in health, artificial and neuro intelligence is changing how we diagnose, intervene and prevent medical conditions,” said Himanshu Shah, CIO, Care Innovations, an Intel Company. “It also helps to educate patients in bringing self-awareness for better management of their health”.

Parks Associates is accepting submissions for speakers for the event. Registration is also open, and media are invited to attend. For more information on participating, visit www.connectedhealthsummit.com.
