Patrick Barry, Vice President, Digital Home, Yahoo! Inc.

Patrick Barry leads the digital home team for Yahoo!’s global Connected Life business unit, which is at the leading edge of the Web’s intersection with the “10-foot experience” of television viewing. The Connected Life business unit encompasses Yahoo!’s mobile products, broadband services, digital home initiative, PC client experience, and strategic partnerships with companies including AT&T, BT, Nokia, and Motorola. This includes the Yahoo! Go suite of services, a revolutionary way to seamlessly connect users to their favorite Web services, wherever they happen to be.

Barry has overall responsibility for the digital home business, including the strategy, products and partnerships that extend Yahoo!’s content, communities and services to “10-foot interfaces” in the digital home. Barry leads Yahoo!’s Digital Home product efforts on network operator, consumer electronics and PC-based platforms, including programs with AT&T, Intel, Sony, TiVo, Philips and Microsoft.

Before joining Yahoo!, Barry was an active venture investor in the areas of networking, consumer electronics and web services. Prior to that, he worked with numerous start-up technology companies, both as an operating executive and as a practicing corporate and securities lawyer. He is a regular speaker at industry events, including Digital Hollywood and the Intel Developer Forum.

Patrick received his undergraduate degree from Columbia College and holds a JD from Hastings College of the Law.


Greg Jones, General Manager, DSP Systems Strategic Marketing, Texas Instruments

Greg Jones is the General Manager of Texas Instruments’ Service Provider Strategic Marketing organization within the DSP Systems organization. He is responsible for establishing key relationships with providers worldwide in order to define the roadmap for exciting new convergence products.

Prior to this position, Mr. Jones was the General Manager of TI’s Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Business Unit within the company’s Broadband Communications Group. He is responsible for customer engagement strategy, product definition, and worldwide marketing of TI products for DSL modem applications. Through his leadership, the company achieved tremendous marketshare growth and is currently positioned as the industry leader in DSL.

Mr. Jones has more than 20 years of proven experience in product development, operations, sales and marketing of technology products. Prior to joining TI, he was founder, chairman, president and CEO of Broadband Gateways, Inc., a company focused on technologies in the broadband edge device marketplace. Previously, Mr. Jones held several senior management positions at Uniden including vice president of the Internet Products Division, director of International Sales, vice president of Operations and Vice President of the Wireless Data Division. He has also held several positions at AmeriCom, where he was a founding engineer for new protocols and switching systems for the land mobile radio industry.

Mr. Jones received his bachelor of science in information and computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1981. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Telecom Industry Association (TIA) as the Chairman of the International Committee.


John Orcutt, Vice President, Managed Home Business, HP

John Orcutt is the vice president for HP’s new Managed Home business within HP’s Personal Systems Group. In this role, John spearheads the growth of the emerging connected home market. Included in the solutions are digital televisions, personal storage, media servers and consumer services. These Managed Home products and services integrate with and build upon personal computers to deliver digital entertainment throughout the home.


Dan Scheinman, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Cisco Media Solutions Group, Cisco Systems, Inc.

Daniel Scheinman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Cisco Media Solutions Group, is responsible for developing and marketing infrastructure products that help digital media content owners improve the content experience for consumers. In this role, he reports directly to Cisco’s Chairman and CEO John Chambers.

Scheinman has been with Cisco since 1992 and previously led Corporate Development, overseeing the merger and acquisition, venture investment, strategic alliance, and technology incubation functions within Cisco. Under his leadership, Corporate Development helped define how the network can serve as an innovation platform in emerging markets such as India and China. The group also completed more than 40 acquisitions, including Linksys and Scientific Atlanta. These acquisitions, in addition to Cisco’s partnering and internal engineering efforts, have positioned the Cisco Media Solutions Group as a valuable partner to companies navigating the digital disruption of the media and entertainment industry.

Scheinman has been a long-time champion for developing new, network-based distribution models for digital content. One example of Scheinman’s sponsorship is News@Cisco, an online portal launched in 2000 with multi-media information on Cisco’s opinion, strategy and news. To better serve the three million annual visitors to News@Cisco, Dan oversaw the development of technology that became the basis for Cisco’s Digital Media Management business unit (DMMBU) launched in 2006 as part of Cisco’s Emerging Technologies Group.

Prior to assuming the role of Senior Vice President of Corporate Development in 2001, Scheinman was the general counsel at Cisco. He holds a doctor of jurisprudence degree from Duke University Law School and a political science degree from Brandeis University.


Ray Sokola, Chief Technology Officer and Corporate Vice President, Motorola, Inc.

Ray Sokola is chief technology officer (CTO) for Motorola's Connected Home Solutions business. In this position, Ray leads the Connected Home Solutions technology team to drive profitable growth through visible technology and innovation leadership, IP creation and timely integration of new technologies that create new business opportunities.

A 26-year Motorolan, Ray previously held the position of corporate vice president and chief technology officer of the Integrated Electronics Systems Sector of Motorola.

Prior to that role, he was general manager of Motorola's Telematics Group, which supplied the in-vehicle equipment for OnStar and other security and information services for drivers. In addition, he was general manager of the ceramic filter business, and spent his first 10 years at Motorola developing cellular mobile and handset technology.

Ray holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware. A recipient of 16 patents, he has been awarded three Motorola Patent of the Year Awards and received Motorola's Distinguished Innovator Award.


Shawn Strickland, Vice President, Video Solutions, Verizon Communications

Shawn Strickland is currently vice president, Video Solutions for Verizon Communications. Shawn is responsible for the strategic direction, development and implementation of FiOS TV as well as franchising acquisition and management, and the FiOS TV product platform roadmap.

Prior to this role, Shawn and his team were responsible for developing and executing the television strategy and product roadmap for Verizon's state-of-the-art fiber to the premises (FTTP) platform. He was responsible for managing the data and voice products on the FTTP platform through construction and launch. Shawn has held a number of Strategy and Development roles throughout the company and has driven a number of critical change initiatives, including the development of the strategy and business case for launching the FTTP initiative. He began his career at Bell Atlantic with the Corporate Development organization where he supported a number of transformational transactions such as the Bell Atlantic-GTE merger.

Shawn is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He received his MBA from Columbia University and his AB from Harvard University. He currently resides in New York with his wife and daughter.

Andy Addis, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Hillcrest Labs

Andy Addis is responsible for marketing, product development and business development for Hillcrest Labs and its groundbreaking technology that re-invents how content is presented and navigated on the television and across a host of consumer electronic products.

Andy brings to Hillcrest more than 20 years of marketing and product management experience, much of it focused on the launch of innovative new products. Prior to Hillcrest, Andy was a senior vice president at Comcast, responsible for marketing and new products. While there he played a lead role in new product strategy as well as development, deployment and marketing for Comcast’s most innovative video products, including video-on-demand (VOD), high definition television (HDTV), and digital video recorders (DVRs). He was also involved with Comcast’s user interface strategy and requirements definition.

He has also managed established businesses and launched new products at Kraft Foods and AT&T. He has been recognized numerous times in his career for leadership and innovation, including CableFax’s “100 Most Influential People (2004),” Cable and Telecommunications Marketing Association’s TAMI Award (2003), and Advertising Age’s “Top 100 Marketers (1991).” Andy earned a Bachelor’s in Economics from Lafayette College and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.


Mary Coller Albert, CMO, Movielink, LLC.

 

As Chief Marketing Officer, Mary Coller Albert is responsible for leading all product marketing and company branding efforts at Movielink. A seasoned Internet marketing and media executive, she oversees all company consumer, business and partner marketing initiatives from brand communication and product planning and positioning to customer acquisition and retention strategies. Mary also oversees all content acquisition and management, production and programming.

Previously Mary served as Senior Vice President at Sony Pictures Digital where she was head of Programming for Sony Connect Video as well as Senior Vice President, General Manager, of SoapCity. In the five years that Mary was at the helm SoapCity, her leadership was instrumental in making SoapCity the Internet’s foremost distributor of content on soap operas and one of the largest female oriented websites, leading to the launch of SoapCity’s download, the first video download service offering full-length, day and date network television broadcasting over the Internet. Before joining Sony Pictures Digital, Mary was vice president and co-founder of Beatnik Inc., an interactive audio software and music development company she started with musician Thomas Dolby. Mary was responsible for taking the company through creative concept, to raising venture capital, and onto maintaining the day-to-day operations including music and software licensing. In addition, she developed, negotiated and oversaw all business relationships for Beatnik, including deals with such major technology companies as Netscape, Microsoft’s WebTV, Sun Microsystems and others. Prior to Beatnik, she managed the careers of musicians and artists as the owner of Mary Coller Management, a personal management company she established in 1990.


Mary Ashe, BPL Product Manager, Motorola

 

Mary has worked in the Telecommunications industry for the past eight years with the past three years dedicated to the Broadband over Powerline (BPL) market. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and an MBA from Loyola University in Chicago.

She has held positions in marketing as well as strategy, channel management and business development over her twenty year career -- having served verticals ranging from healthcare to heavy equipment manufacturing with a focus on business-to-business market development. She has leveraged this experience at Motorola to lead a team dedicated to the successful launch of an innovative new BPL product called Powerline MU.


Will Beals, Director, Hardware Systems Architecture, EchoStar Technologies Corp.

Will Beals is the Director of Hardware Systems Architecture at EchoStar Technologies, Corp. He has been with Echostar since 1989 working on their digital STB service since its inception. He is currently in charge of investigating and developing new STB technologies including MPEG4, home networking, and STB security for Dish Network and their international partners.


Duncan Bees, Deputy Chairman of the HGI Quality of Service Working Group, PMC-Sierra, Inc.

Duncan Bees is a Technical Advisor for PMC-Sierra’s Communication Products Division. He is active the DSL Forum and is the deputy chair of the Home Gateway Initiative’s QoS Group. At PMC-Sierra since 1999, Mr. Bees’ responsibilities include working with carriers to identify deployment scenarios and service requirements for DSL and optical residential gateways, and technical requirements for the chips that go in them. Previously he worked with Nortel, managing a development group in the wireless products division.

He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University.


Mark Bell, Director, Data Development and Support, Cox Communications

 

Mark Bell is currently the Director CHSI Product Management within the Strategy and Product Management group of Cox Communications.

In his current position, Mark is responsible for the Product Management of Cox’s CHSI product line. He manages Cox’s Program Management group which supports the HSI product portfolio and new product development initiatives He is responsible for assessing new technologies associated with numerous broadband product and applications. Under Mark’s development, Cox has introduced network based anti-spam/anti-virus solutions, Home Networking strategy, Self Registration platform, and has helped incubate and launch several small company solutions. He also introduced one of the first free integrated security suites within the broadband service provider market.

He manages Cox’s Program Management group which supports the HSI product portfolio and new product development initiatives.

Prior to his position at Cox, Mark was with BellSouth Internet Services where he was the Portal Services Product Development Manager. While there, he was responsible for the development and deployment of BellSouth’s first Internet Appliance product.

Mark is a member of CTAM and a member of the CableHome technical and business subcommittees. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University.


Ilya Billig, Vice President, Business Development, Lagotek Corp.

Responsible for technological partnerships of Lagotek, Ilya Billig drives product strategy and builds long terms relationships with market leaders in the areas of Home Automation and computer networking.

Mr. Billig has spent more than ten years in various management positions at Microsoft both in Europe and in the United States. He was the third employee of Microsoft Russia and was master of ceremonies during Bill Gates’ presentation in the Kremlin. He has a Masters Degree in computer science and over 15 years of international marketing, PR and business development experience.

Lagotek Corporation was founded in 2004 with the vision of bringing automation to every home to improve the quality of people’s lives. John Bishop, Sr. Vice President, Business Development and Strategy, Inlet Technologies

John is recognized as a digital video industry expert. He has been featured as a speaker and expert panelist at numerous worldwide events including DV Expo, Digital Hollywood, National Association of Broadcasters annual conference (NAB), Streaming Media East/West/Europe tradeshows and RealNetworks Conferences. Prior to joining Inlet, John served as the Director of Business Development and Product Management for Osprey Technologies (acquired by ViewCast Corporation). There, he identified and developed key market opportunities resulting in multiple consecutive revenue growth quarters, despite global economic downturn. His other accomplishments at Osprey include: generating sales tools and collateral that reduced overall costs of sales by $1M over 3 years, developing and managing strategic business relationships with Microsoft, RealNetworks and HP, and successfully launching e-commerce initiatives, netting an overall increase of 800% in direct sales. He has authored white papers, web content, press releases and industry presentations, affirming industry leadership position in technology, partnerships, overall ecosystem and people. Prior to Osprey, John spent three years at IBM where he served as a product engineer with IBM's Aptiva PC Division. He currently serves on the board of directors at Accordent Technologies, based in Hermosa Beach California, and holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University.


Mark Bowles, VP, Business Development and Corporate Marketing, Staccato Communications

Mr. Bowles has 20+ years in the semiconductor and high-technology industry. He has been involved in the formation and funding of five technology start-ups and has successfully raised 12 rounds of Venture Capital financing, totaling more than $130M raised from more than two dozen VC funds. Prior to co-founding Staccato in 2002 he was most recently co-founder, president, COO and director of BOPS, Inc. (sold to Altera), a broadband DSP cores and tools company. Prior to BOPS, he was instrumental in forming and funding a number of successful start-ups including Power Computing (sold to Apple in 1996); Panorama Designs (sold to Motorola in 1996); and BlueSteel Networks (sold to Broadcom in 2000). Mr. Bowles also spent six years at Motorola Semiconductor where he held various distribution management, sales and market development positions; he left in 1996 as vice president MSPI of PowerPC market development.

Mark has established global sales, marketing, business development, and distribution organizations multiple times for multiple companies. He is also currently very active in UWB standards-setting bodies and has been a key participant in IEEE 802.15.3a, 802.15.4a (founding member), MBOA (founder and marketing committee chair) WiMedia Alliance (Board member, Liaison to WiMedia China Chapter), and the Wireless USB Promoter Group (active member, key contributor). Mr. Bowles has authored 4 patent applications in UWB technology.

Mark is a regular industry speaker and author and also a regular guest lecturer on entrepreneurship and innovation at Duke University, and has been a guest lecturer on entrepreneurship at Harvard and Stanford.

Mr. Bowles holds an undergraduate engineering degree from Texas A&M and a Master of Science degree in technology management (E-MBA) from Pepperdine University.


Brad Bridges, Assistant Vice President-Business Development, AT&T

 

Mr. Bridges is responsible for discovering, initiating and deploying new services for AT&T Business Development, a newly formed organization that quickly delivers new innovations and communications capabilities to business and residential customers . As an example, in 2006, he successfully led the deployment of AT&T Remote Monitor - a service that integrates cellular and DSL and help customers stay more connected to their homes and families while they are away. He has responsibility for both consumer and small business services.

Before moving to Business Development, Mr. Bridges was responsible for initiating and analyzing corporate opportunities and the development of corporate strategy from the network and business marketing perspectives. He also led the development and coordination of AT&T’s strategy on wireless and wireline convergence.

Prior to this, he led SBC’s Business Marketing Strategy and Indirect Channel teams. Marketing Strategy has responsibilities for identifying, assessing, and developing appropriate action plans for strategic opportunities that will impact SBC’s products and services for business customers. Indirect Channels included development and implementation of new channel opportunities for SBC’s business products including retail, agents, and e-commerce.

Mr. Bridges has also lead the Product Design team with responsibilities for defining the specifics of how new services will work and be integrated into the network and for performing approval for use and acceptance testing on the hardware and software for new CPE products.

Mr. Bridges began his career as an engineer with Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1982. In 1987, he was appointed a member of the technical staff at Bellcore in Morristown, NJ. In 1990, he joined SBC Technology Resources, Inc. (now AT&T Labs) concentrating in wireless service development and International M&A activities. In 1999, he joined the marketing organization.

Mr. Bridges earned a bachelor’s degree (1981) and master’s degree (1982) in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University and master’s degree in business from the University of Texas in 1999. He became a Registered Professional Engineer in 1984.

He and his wife, Cheryl, have one son and his hobbies include coaching and golf.


Chris Brown, CEO, Metabeam

Entertainment technology pioneer and award-winning DVD artist Chris Brown co-founded Metabeam in 2005. He established his reputation during 15 years working with digital media, particularly at the intersection where Hollywood meets the Internet.

In 1995, Chris co-founded InterActual Technologies, Inc. (www.interactual.com), which produced the technology standard for enhanced DVD-ROM. Chris served as both Hollywood evangelist and executive creative director, and helped successfully launch VideoSaver, PCFriendly and InterActual Player. In 2004, InterActual was acquired by digital media leader Sonic Solutions (NASDAQ-SNIC – www.sonic.com).

Known for his innovative vision, Chris specializes in bringing together artists and fans through technology. Chris received a Discus Award for his work on The Matrix Virtual Theater, blending group DVD screenings with live chat interviews of film directors and crew. Chris enjoys the distinction of having created the only DVD-ROM feature ever nominated for a DVD Exclusive Award: Terminator 2 Extreme Effects Studio, which enabled users to input their own pictures, then use actual film assets and effects to generate “cyborg” or “liquid metal” versions.

Chris has contributed to many entertainment franchises including Austin Powers, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Paul McCartney, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, Spider-Man, Shrek and many others.

In addition to his duties as Metabeam CEO, Chris currently serves as marketing chair for the Media Experience Trade Association (www.mediaexperience.org). He has lent his services to the industry as a frequent event panelist, and was a charter member of the Content Committee for the Digital Entertainment Group (www.dvdinformation.com).


Lew Brown, Executive Vice President of Marketing, Z-Wave Alliance

 

Lew Brown is the Executive Vice President of Marketing. Mr. Brown joins Zensys after serving as Director of Strategic Business Development at Monster Cable, a renowned CE accessory manufacturer. He also previously held the position of CEO at Mobilworks and was President and Chief Marketing Officer of Collaborative Media, an Internet-based content website serving the CE industry.


Maciek Brzeski, Vice President, Marketing, Toshiba Storage Device Division

As vice president of marketing for Toshiba Storage Device Division (SDD), Maciek Brzeski is responsible for directing Toshiba’s marketing, and product planning efforts relating to hard disk drive sales in the United States. Maciek joined Toshiba in 1996 and previously focused on the company’s optical business unit. He has been instrumental in launching Toshiba’s DVD recordable and 1.8-inch hard disk drive product lines.

A veteran of the computer industry for more than 19 years, Maciek also has held positions at AST, Raytheon and Telex. Before moving to California in 1989 to head up AST’s international marketing efforts and serve as strategic marketing/planning manager, he drove AST’s European marketing initiatives from the company’s U.K. headquarters. Maciek began his technology career as a data communication systems engineer at Raytheon before and after it was acquired by Telex.

In addition to his extensive technology marketing expertise, Maciek has been a key representative for Toshiba in the storage industry. He has spoken at numerous events including the 2005 Consumer Telematics Seminar, OSTA, the DVD Entertainment Conference & Showcase, Digital Hollywood and Optical Storage Symposium.

A graduate from the University of London, Maciek earned a degree in electronic engineering with a computer science concentration.


Brian Burch, Director of Marketing, Managed Home Global Business Unit, Hewlett-Packard Company

Brian Burch is director of the Managed Home program that drives HP’s strategic intent to “digitize” the home and provide compelling and intuitive experiences in every room and while people are on the go. He works across all of HP’s consumer-focused business units in the company’s Personal Systems Group to drive a consistent hardware, software and services roadmap.

From 1998 to 2006, Burch was senior vice president of marketing for Insight, a major Internet and telesales reseller. He also served as vice president of marketing at an enterprise software start-up company, Aveo, which attracted $60 million in investor funding. He also held roles as the executive vice president of marketing and consumer/small office-home office sales at MicroWarehouse and the chief marketing officer at a leading web and audio conferencing company, Raindance, which was acquired by Intercall in early 2006.

Burch first joined HP in 1995 as one of the founding members of the Home Products Division, which developed and launched the HP Pavilion PC product line and achieved market share leadership among PCs sold through the retail channel within two years. Following that success, he became the company’s first worldwide consumer brand manager, a role in which he devised and deployed successful consumer-centric brand positioning for HP around the world.

Burch earned bachelor’s degrees in both journalism/advertising and psychology from the University of Kansas. He has served on multiple advisory boards and currently serves in that capacity for Incentive Logic, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based customer and employee rewards company.


Dr. Lars Buttler, CEO, Trion World Network, Inc.

Dr. Lars Buttler is a Founder and the CEO of Trion World Network, Inc., the publisher and developer of original entertainment and games for the broadband era. Dr. Buttler helms strategy and business direction for Trion as the company sets out to define the future of entertainment. Under his leadership, Trion develops groundbreaking new capabilities and content for broadband, the greatest entertainment and mass media platform.

Prior to founding Trion, Dr. Buttler was the Vice President for Global Online at Electronic Arts, the world’s largest independent developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software. Dr. Buttler led EA’s strategy for online games and services and ran EA’s Online Studio, home to the pioneering Ultima Online MMOG franchise.

Before EA, Dr. Buttler served as Vice President for Leveraged Buyouts at the Carlyle Group, the premier global private equity firm, focusing on large-scale investments in entertainment, media, and telecommunications.

Prior to Carlyle, Dr. Buttler served as President of Wingcast Europe, a joint venture of QUALCOMM & Ford Motor Co., and a leading wireless in-vehicle media platform & interactive service network. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Dortmund University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and earned an M.B.A from Harvard Business School.


Martijn Lopes Cardozo, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, TANDBERG Television

As Senior Vice President, Corporate Development at TANDBERG Television, Martijn Lopes Cardozo oversees the Company’s strategic partnerships – including ecosystem partners and resellers. He is also responsible for equity transactions and the Company’s initial entry into new markets. Mr. Lopes Cardozo is particularly focused on TANDBERG Television’s IPTV segment, which provides telecom operators market leading compression, on-demand, and interactive television solutions.

Mr. Lopes Cardozo joined TTV through the acquisition of interactive television provider GoldPocket Interactive. As Executive Vice President of Distribution and Partnerships, he oversaw the distribution of GoldPocket’s ITV technologies to operators and was responsible for developing and managing key strategic partnerships. During his tenure at GoldPocket, Mr. Lopes Cardozo led the Company's entry into the IPTV, wireless, and cable and satellite segments.

Prior to GoldPocket, Mr. Lopes Cardozo was a Senior Product Manager at Akamai Technologies, where he arranged and coordinated reseller agreements including a critical arrangement with WebTrends. He previously worked with Unilever in Germany and OC&C Strategy Consultants in the Netherlands.

Mr. Lopes Cardozo holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Master of Science in Applied Physics from the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.

Charles Cerino leads a team of futurist investigating technological advancements and their impact on the Cable industry.

Charlie joined Comcast in 1978 as a system engineer to build the Philadelphia suburbs. During his tenure, he has held system, region and corporate engineering positions and has been active in the Delaware Valley Chapter of the SCTE serving as a Founder, Board member and President. He also chaired the NCTA's engineering sub-committee on CLI and FCC regulations. Since 1995, Charlie has focused on exploring new technologies and was instrumental developing and launching cable modem service in Comcast. Charlie has his BS degree from Temple University He holds a First Class Radiotelephone operator's license and a Ham radio license.


Tom Cullen, Executive Vice President, Corporate Development, EchoStar Satellite LLC.

Tom Cullen serves as executive vice president of Corporate Development for EchoStar, and oversees business development functions including sourcing, evaluation, structure and closure of potential acquisitions, investments and joint ventures. He also is responsible for EchoStar’s ISP strategy and implementation, as well as accelerating the company’s broadband opportunities and customer introduction of new broadband-related products. Before joining EchoStar, Cullen served as President of TensorComm, a venture-backed wireless technology company focused on wireless interference issues. Prior to TensorComm, Cullen held senior leadership roles at Charter Communications and MediaOne. Cullen graduated from the University of Colorado with a master’s degree in Business Administration, and received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University.


Tim Cutting, CEO & Founder, NiveusMedia, Inc.

Mr. Cutting is the Founder and CEO of Niveus Media, whose Media Server line of products have won numerous awards since their introduction in 2003, including numerous Innovations Design and Engineering Awards. Well known as a company that has pioneered the Windows Media Center platform into the living room, Niveus and Cutting have been instrumental in working with both Microsoft and Intel to develop their vision of how the media center can meet the needs of the custom installer channel. In 2006, Niveus Media became an Intel Portfolio Company.

Prior to Niveus Media, Cutting worked in New Product Introduction (NPI) for Sun Microsystems. Cutting holds an M.B.A. degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and a B.A. degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Joe Dada founded SmartLabs, Inc., in 1992 and has helped SmartLabs grow from one of the world’s largest distributors of home automation products to improve the home to an integrated technology company creating the next generation of home control products and systems. Wayne Davis, Technical Advisory Board, Peak8 Solutions

Wayne Davis was most recently Executive Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer for Charter Communications, Inc. serving over six million subscribers. He had responsibility for company-wide network engineering and technology strategy related to data, voice, and video, together with technical operations, Information Technology, purchasing and the deployment of new technology. He has more than 25 years of experience in cable engineering, technical operations, and operations management.

A Charter employee since December 2001, Mr. Davis was previously Senior Vice President of Engineering and Technical Operations, and prior to that was Vice President of Management Services, serving as assistant to Charter’s President and CEO. Previously, he was Vice President of Engineering for the company's Western Division serving over four million subscribers.

Before joining Charter, Mr. Davis held the position of Vice President of Engineering for Comcast. Prior to that he was Senior Vice President of Engineering for Jones Intercable where he began his MSO career in 1982.

Mr. Davis was included as one of cable's 100 most influential people by CableFax in 2005. He is an advisory board member of several broadband technology companies including; BroadLogic Network Technologies, Cedar Point Communications, and Visionael Corporation. Mr Davis is a longtime member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers. He received his education at the State University of New York.

Prior to Lemko, in 1998, Nick was Founder and CEO of Zkey.com – a multi-award winning market leader and early trailblazer in consumer mobile applications. Zkey was the first mobile address book and email WAP site available in the US, launching in 1999. Amongst many other awards and accolades, Zkey was named PC Magazine’s Editor’s Choice and Top 100 sites on the internet two years in a row.

Nick is a frequent invited industry and author. He has been an invited speaker at venues ranging from the IAB MIXX Conference to CTIA to the Under the Radar Technology Event to the Harvard Business School and many others. From 2001 to 2004, Nick wrote a regular column called the CEO Diary for California CEO Magazine.

Rodger Desai is the CEO and co-founder of Rave Wireless, Inc. Rave revolutionizes college campuses with mobile phone software that strengthens communities, enhances learning and increases student safety.

Prior to starting Rave Wireless, Rodger was co-founder and CEO of the Vettro Corporation, a leading mobile business applications company. Rodger started his career as an executive in Accenture’s telecom practice and in engineering management positions at ExxonMobil and GE.

Rodger balances his work with non-profit initiatives that leverage the use of mobile phone technology in the developing world. He has helped USAID and the Department of Defense with disease surveillance in Iraq and Grameen Bank with their micro-financed based Village Phone program. He also serves as an advisor and investor to numerous startups including Fotolog.com and Kiva.org.

Rodger holds a degree in engineering from Rensselaer. He is on-leave from the MBA program at Harvard Business School.


Bill Diamond, President, Xanboo, Inc.

William Diamond was previously President, CEO, and 50% equity holder in RDI, Incorporated, an ISO900 electronics engineering and manufacturing company that owns and operates a 90,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, China, employing over 900 people. William co-founded Diamond Properties, which over the past decade has acquired over 3,000,000 square feet of Class A and Class B commercial space in New York, Philadelphia, and Cincinnati. William graduated from St. Paul's School in 1987 and from Amherst College in 1991.


Chris Dobrec, Sr. Director of Strategy, Linksys, A Division of Cisco Systems Inc.

 

Chris Dobrec is the Senior Director World Wide Strategy & Business Development for Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems. Chris is responsible for world wide Linksys corporate strategy, business development, and new-market development initiatives. He identifies specific new areas of growth for Linksys, both organic and through partnerships and M & A. In addition, Chris is responsible for partnering with Linksys product development and sales leaders to identify unique growth opportunities and building associated "go-to-market" strategies.

In his career, Chris has defined corporate strategies and navigated new market transitions. He also has a technical background in network design, architecture and engineering as well as product development and management. In addition, he has published numerous articles and papers supporting various new technologies.

Most recently, Chris was a Director of Business Development reporting directly to Cisco's Chief Development Officer, in a cross-company leadership role covering both service provider and consumer market development, while leading go-to-market activities impacting Cisco’s development organization. Prior to that, he held the position of senior manager of strategic alliances in the service provider and small business/commercial market segments. In his 13 year tenure at Cisco he has also held leadership positions in channel operations and technical marketing.

In addition to his time at Cisco, Chris has held several senior leadership positions at successful startup organizations such as Kalpana and Ipsilon Networks, and larger organizations such as AT&T Bell Labs in the areas of sales, marketing, and engineering. Chris had a double major at the University of California at Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.


Paul Ferris, General Partner, Azure Capital Partners

Paul Ferris is a founding General Partner with Azure Capital Partners where he specializes in communications and systems technologies. His current active board memberships include Calix Networks and Personeta, and he is a board observer at Medsphere. Other representative investments include Innovance Networks and World Wide Packets. Prior successful investments include Com21 (IPO in 1998) and Phone.com (IPO in 1999).

Prior to Azure, Paul worked at several investment banks, including Credit Suisse First Boston, where he was the Global Head of the Communications Investment Banking Group, and at Deutsche Bank Securities and Morgan Stanley, where he focused on communications infrastructure and hardware companies.

Over the course of his career, Paul has provided strategic and investment advice to numerous leading communications infrastructure companies. Notable firms include ADC Telecommunications, Broadcom, Carrier Access, Cerent (acquired by Cisco Systems), Com21, Efficient Networks (acquired by Siemens), Lucent Technologies, Next Level Communications, New Focus, Nortel Networks, Packet Engines (acquired by Alcatel), Phone.com, Siara Systems (acquired by Redback Networks), Siemens and Xros (acquired by Nortel Networks).

Mike Fidler, CEO, Digeo, Inc.

Mike Fidler is chief executive officer of Digeo, Inc., bringing a strong background in consumer electronics and cable technologies. Fidler is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the company and implementing key initiatives to drive Digeo’s evolution from a successful technology start-up to a well-established company with clear leadership positions in software, silicon and hardware.

Previously, Fidler was senior vice president of Sony Electronics' (SEL) Home Products Division, where he was responsible for directing the marketing of Sony's TV, home audio/video, and IT displays business. He also served as senior vice president, Blu-ray Disc Group, responsible for promoting the Blu-ray Disc format to relevant industries including motion picture studios, music labels, consumer electronics manufacturers, information technology companies, optical replication and post-production houses. Prior to that, Fidler served as senior vice president of the Digital Platform Division of America. Before joining Sony, Fidler held the positions of senior vice president, New Technologies and senior vice president, Marketing at Pioneer Electronics.

Fidler is a founding member and vice president of the DVD Entertainment Group, an industry-funded nonprofit organization that provides updated information about DVD to media and retailers. He has served on various committees established by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) that focused on providing the necessary marketing support for launching new technology products.

Fidler graduated from Pace University in New York with a Bachelor of business administration in marketing.


Zephra Freeman, Home Networking Business Development Manager, Digital Interface Business, Texas Instruments, Inc.

Currently a worldwide home networking and IEEE1394 business development manager for Texas Instruments (TI), Zephra Freeman is responsible for developing the home networking business strategy of TI’s +$250M digital Interface business unit (DIBU). DIBU includes high-speed, digital-based interface solutions such as IEEE1394(Firewire), USB Hubs, UARTs, PCI Express Bridges and PHYs, FlashMedia Controllers, PCI CardBus controllers and DVI Transmitter/Receivers.

Zephra has held various marketing, business development, manufacturing engineering and management positions during his 23-year career at TI. His disciplines span across many areas including DLP Business Development, Strategic Marketing, Product Marketing, automation and tooling, small business development, manufacturing technology engineering, and small form factor LCD displays. During his career he’s had the opportunity to work with development programs across multiple application spaces, including: military program technology development, digital photo printing, automotive lighting and high speed buses, small form factor displays, DLP new business applications and mixed signal IC solutions.

Zephra has a bachelor’s of science in Engineering from Prairie View A&M University and a master’s of business from the University of Dallas.

He also received “Black Engineer of the Year award” from Career Magazine in 1996. He is a Board Member and Vice-Chairman of the 1394 Trade Association. He is also a Board Member for HANA, the High Definition Audio-Video Networking Alliance.


Noam Geri, Co-Founder and Vice President, Marketing & Business Development, Amimon Inc.

Noam Geri is Co-Founder and Vice President of Marketing and Business Development of AMIMON Inc. Geri co-founded AMIMON in 2004 following a 12-year career in communication technology holding various marketing, business development and technical positions. Until 2003 Geri served as strategic marketing and business development manager at Texas Instruments, Cable Broadband Communications business unit, with responsibility for marketing and business development of new technologies and standards in the broadband access and home networking space. Geri joined Texas Instruments through the 1999 acquisition of Libit Signal Processing Ltd., a semiconductor startup developing cable modem chipsets. Prior to Libit, Geri served five years in an elite R&D unit of the Israeli Defense Forces. Jeremiah Golston, CTO - Digital Entertainment Products, Texas Instruments, Inc.

 

Jeremiah Golston is a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Texas Instruments and Chief Technical Officer for the Digital Entertainment Products Business. He is responsible for TI's device architecture roadmap for emerging markets in IPTV and media convergence in the connected home. Golston led the definition of the TMS320C64x instruction set extensions for video and broadband communications. He was chief architect for the DM64x digital media processor family and one of the lead architects for the DaVinci media processing SOC platform. He initiated video codec development on the 64x platform demonstrating several industry firsts including real-time embedded H.264 main profile decoding and VC-1/WMV9 encoding.

Golston received bachelors and masters degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He holds 20 patents in media processor architecture and optimized algorithm implementations.

Roger Gregory, Marketing Director, BCT Telco and Operator, Business Line Set-Top Box and Home Media Devices, NXP

 

Roger Gregory is the marketing director of the Telco and Operator group in the Home business unit at NXP Semiconductors.

Roger is responsible for leading the global marketing and business development activities for IP-set-top box (STB), satellite pay system STB solutions and wireless audio products. The global marketing team he leads is focused on bringing advanced solutions to customers that meet the requirements of these new, emerging markets.

Roger started his career at NXP in 1994, as an engineer, and then a systems architect for the Philips optical drive solutions based in the United Kingdom. In 2000, he became the international marketing manager of DVD Recoding systems. Following a year in corporate strategy, Roger moved to the U.S. in 2005 to lead the marketing activities for IP-STB solutions.

Barry Haaser, Senior Director, LONWORKS Infrastructure Business, Echelon Corporation

A seasoned marketing executive, Haaser has over 20 years of hi tech experience in the area of control and data networks, enterprise storage, customer relationship management, and home and building automation. Mr. Haaser is currently the Senior Director, LONWORKS Infrastructure Business with Echelon Corporation. He is responsible for business development, training and management of programs that support the design, development, sale and integration of solutions using the LONWORKS platform industry. Previously Mr. Haaser was the Executive Director of LONMARK International, a global trade organization supporting the development of technical standards and marketing programs to facilitate the adoption of open, interoperable solutions. Mr. Haaser spun the LonMark Association out of Echelon and established it as an independent corporation where he grew membership from 250 over 500 members worldwide. Mr. Haaser was previously the Vice President of Marketing at Alacritech, a provider of network and storage acceleration solutions, where he defined and managed the company’s marketing activities, including business development, product marketing and marketing communications. Prior to joining Alacritech, Haaser was Director of Marketing Communications at Saratoga Systems, a leading customer relationship management solutions provider, where he led efforts to reposition the company, launch new products, and reinvigorate marketing programs for the company’s full suite of customer, sales and marketing software. Previously, Haaser spent 11 years with Echelon Corporation where he held a variety of marketing and management positions. While at Echelon he co-authored the company’s business plan, orchestrated its launch, participated in various standards and industry initiatives, established its marketing presence in Europe, and assisted with its IPO. Prior to Echelon, Haaser worked for the industry research firms Dataquest and Gnostic Concepts. Haaser is an experienced speaker, having presented at numerous conferences and events worldwide on subjects including home and building automation, utility metering, industrial control and communication network architectures. Haaser holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from San Jose State University.


Karen Hanley, Sr. Director, Marketing and Membership, Wi-Fi Alliance

Karen Hanley is a 22-year veteran of the electronics industry. Before joining the staff of the Wi-Fi Alliance, she enjoyed roles in engineering, marketing/strategy and communications at Texas Instruments, Motorola, and Freescale Semiconductor, where she led the marketing IPO launch team. A graduate of the Texas A&M University School of Engineering, Karen resides in the hill country of central Texas with her charming family and a cat named Bob.

Patrick Harr, president and CEO of Streamload, brings 13 years of executive leadership in storage, security and content delivery to the company. Previously, Patrick served as entrepreneur-in-residence with Enterprise Partners Venture Capital, CEO of Preventsys (acquired by McAfee in 2006), VP of enterprise products at McDATA and GM of Novell Content Delivery Services. Andrew Hartsfield, CEO, WiLife, Inc.

 

Andrew Hartsfield is chief executive officer and co-founder of WiLife. He is responsible for setting the company’s strategic direction and leading its growth as the premier provider of video security products. Prior to founding WiLife in 2002, Andrew served as chief financial officer of Omniture (formerly MyComputer.com), where he led the company's successful strategic repositioning from a free, advertising-based consumer service provider to a subscription-based enterprise service provider that included clients such as eBay (EBAY), Microsoft (MSFT), and AOL Time Warner (AOL). During this same period, Andrew raised nearly $15 million of institutional and angel growth capital from companies such as from Verisign (VRSN), NetObjects (NSOL), and Silicon Valley Bank.

Andrew also served as chief financial officer and executive vice president of business development for Zuka Juice, a retailer of nutritional food products. In just two-and-a-half years, Andrew played a key role in growing Zuka Juice from three retail stores to 108 stores and nearly $50 million in system wide annualized sales, then lead the sale of Zuka Juice to Jamba Juice (JMBA).

His past accomplishments also include working in the corporate finance departments of Evans & Sutherland (ESCC) in Salt Lake City and Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. in New York City, where Andrew specialized in mergers & acquisitions and initial public offerings of primary health care and Latin American companies.

Andrew graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Accounting.


Christine Heckart, General Manager, Microsoft TV, Microsoft Corp.

As General Manager of Marketing for Microsoft TV, Christine Heckart is responsible for the division’s worldwide marketing, partnership and ecosystem management, as well as for helping to develop and implement its overall business strategy. Prior to joining Microsoft in 2006, Ms. Heckart served as Vice President of Worldwide Marketing for Juniper Networks and as President of the strategic consulting firm TeleChoice, Inc.

Ms. Heckart is the author of The Guide to Frame Relay Networking and is co-author of ATM for Dummies. She is an acknowledged industry thought leader and was named one of Network World’s “Top 10 Power Thinkers,” as well as one of the “50 Most Powerful People in the Industry.”

Keith Higgins, VP, Marketing, Stoke, Inc.

Keith has been a key player in driving new technologies such as copper-based broadband access, frame relay and ATM into the carrier marketplace. He was VP Worldwide Marketing for Copper Mountain Networks and held senior marketing positions at Stratacom, a provider of ATM and frame relay WAN solutions that was acquired by Cisco in 1996 for $4 billion.


John Hoctor, Vice President, Business Development and Marketing, Navic Networks

John Hoctor, vice president of business development and marketing, brings a unique mixture of engineering expertise and business experience to the Navic management team. John has been with Navic for over five years, and during this time has participated in nearly all facets of growing the company. Wes Hoffman, VP and GM of Media, 2Wire, Inc.

Wes Hoffman brings 2Wire nearly 30 years of management experience with innovative, high tech companies. As vice president and general manager of 2Wire’s media business unit, Wes oversees all product management, product marketing, engineering, and operations for the Company’s media product line. Prior to joining 2Wire in 2006, Wes was an executive vice president and general manager of OpenTV, a publicly held company that develops and distributes middleware for set-top boxes. Prior to OpenTV he was of president and CEO of ICTV, a developer of centralized, interactive television systems for cable operators. Prior to that, Wes spent 17 years with General Instrument Corporation where he held the positions of president and COO of AmTote International and president of American Totalisator Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of AmTote International. Bill Holmes, Vice President of Business Development and Strategy, DivX, Inc.

Bill Holmes is the Vice President of Business Development & Strategy for DivX, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for developing emerging market opportunities and directing DivX's long-term strategic product development and marketing efforts. Prior to this, Bill ran the consumer electronics business at DivX including the launch of the highly successful DivX Certified program. Prior to DivX, Bill served as senior director of product development for Digital Entertainment Solutions, Hollywood where he directed the company's digital media infrastructure providing encoding, content management and networked media distribution for major studio clients. Most recently, Bill served as director of product management and product marketing for YottaYotta where he was responsible for the development and marketing of carrier-class networked storage arrays.

Faraz Hoodbhoy is the Founder and CEO of PixSense. He most recently served as Vice President of Business Development at NextBrick Solutions, Ltd., and was responsible for its Enterprise Search practice. Prior to NextBrick, Faraz served as Director of Technical Sales at Clickmarks, Inc., where he developed key relationships around Clickmarks' mobile integration platform with carriers in North and South America. As Director of Global Solutions at Unisys Corporation, he created and implemented technology strategy for Unisys' mobile and wireless field-force solutions offerings. At Cap-Gemini Ernst and Young, Faraz was part of the Center for Business Innovation where his research focus was on corporate performance measurement. Faraz started his career at Microsoft on the team responsible for building the XML 1.0 standard. Rick Howe, Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Zodiac Interactive

Rick comes to Zodiac Interactive with over 30 years in Cable and Broadband. Joining the predecessor company of Time Warner Cable immediately after college, Rick spent six years in cable operations and marketing before moving to the Showtime Networks (a division of Viacom) for twelve years, ending as Senior Vice President Affiliate Marketing. He left Showtime for a three-year non-profit sabbatical, returning to the industry in 1994. Since then, as Chief Alchemist for Winstone Management, he has launched nearly two dozen start-up cable programming networks and technology providers. He brings to Zodiac Interactive an encyclopedic knowledge of the industry, along with direct product development and marketing experience with cable and satellite operators, basic and pay programming networks, Interactive Program Guides, Set Top Box Middleware, iTV Applications, Video on Demand and IPTV.


Dan Illowsky, CTO and Founder, DARTdevices

Dan started his career by writing some early best selling video games for the original Apple II and IBM personal computers in the early 80's. Acting as a independent top-tier Silicon Valley consultant for more than 20 years, Dan worked on major projects with Intel (custom speech and handwriting chip), Microsoft (parts of the core Windows 95 OS), RSA (optimization of their BSAFE libraries), Xerox PARC (digital picture processing algorithms), Diva Systems (the first video on demand set-top-box), and Zoran (DSP audio and DVD playback software). In 2000 Dan co-founded Storymail, Inc. which created a new super-rich media format. Storymail was sold to Gemstar-TV Guide in 2002.


Doug Jones, Chief Architect of Cable, BigBand Networks, Inc.

As chief cable architect at BigBand Networks, Doug is responsible for the strategic and technical direction of the company’s solutions for the cable market. Throughout the course of a 20-year career, Jones has been a significant contributor to some of the cable industry’s most significant standardization efforts, including pioneering development work on the early CableLabs®’ DOCSIS® and CableHome® specifications. Doug’s work with CableLabs included work on certification of some of the first DOCSIS products in 1999 and paved the way for significant advances in home networking.

Doug’s recent efforts to advance Modular-CMTS and DOCSIS 3.0 functionality can set the stage for the delivery of converged video, voice and data services over an entirely IP infrastructure; one of the next great technology milestones for the industry. In January, Jones received the IP Innovator award from the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers. The prestigious award recognizes an individual each year who has displayed innovative achievement and creativity in the advancement and development of IP networking.

Doug holds a bachelors of science degree in medical technology from the State University of New York at Albany, as well as a bachelors of science degree in electrical engineering and a masters of science in engineering from the University of Texas.


Jim Jones, Managing Director, Scale Venture Partners

 

Jim's investment focus is in semiconductor and MEMS components and enterprise systems. Jim joined Scale Venture Partners in 2000 and currently sits on the boards of Auvitek, CipherMax, Discera, Entone, Enuclia, NComputing, and Xceive. Jim was also responsible for ScaleVP's investment in Monolithic Power Systems (NASDAQ: MPWR).

Prior to Scale Venture Partners, Jim led product management, product marketing, and business development groups at 3Com Corporation, where he managed a diverse $1.2 billion product line. He also spearheaded the company's entry into and market leadership of Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet solutions as well as its foray into the home networking market. Prior to 3Com, Jim worked in integrated circuit development and marketing with National Semiconductor, focusing on analog, ATM, FDDI, and Ethernet controller and transceiver solutions.

John J. Kang, Sr. Director of Business Development, Samsung Electronics Co.

 

John is Senior Director of New Business Development at Samsung Information Systems America. He previously held positions within Samsung heading up business development activities in North America for set-top box terminals and cable modems. He has also held various positions with management consulting firms, the Disney Channel, and AT&T. He has an MBA from Kellogg School of Management and a B.S. from Harvey Mudd College.


Sukhwant Khanuja, CEO, CareMatix, Inc.

Sukhwant Khanuja is the CEO of Carematix which develops wireless solutions to provide “sustained outcome improvements” through remote patient monitoring solutions for various disease states like CHF, Hypertension, Obesity, Diabetes, and COPD. The solutions have the lowest total cost and the highest compliance in the industry. The solutions are being used today by companies like FedEx, Toyota, United Health, Veterans Administration and University of Chicago Home Care.

Dr. Khanuja received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University after receiving his MS from University of Notre Dame and BS from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He has received a number of design excellence awards from the American Society of Mechanical Engineering, and has published refereed papers in the area of product development. Keith Kocho founded ExtendMedia (then Digital Renaissance) in 1991 and brings to the company his 15 years of executive experience in a startup / high growth environment. Under his leadership, the company has been recognized for numerous awards including The Fast 50, Canada's Fastest Growing Companies, Profit 100, and others, and he has personally received such awards as the BDC's Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Today Extend clients include Showtime, ClickStar, Hewlett-Packard, Cablevision, Nelvana Entertainment, Bell Canada, and more. These firms use ExtendMedia’s software to power digital media commerce, with support for the automation of content delivery systems; large-scale integration projects; embedded systems; TV delivery standards/processes; and support for flexible business models in their online offerings. Keith has been an advisor to Apple Computer, consultant to leading telecommunications and technology companies such as Intel, IBM and Microsoft, and has served on the advisory boards of several Colleges and Universities. His industry roles have included board participation on ITAC, CANARIE and the Canadian Film Centre. Prior to starting the company, Keith co-developed the first PC-based offline video editing system, EnSuite, in 1990. He is a graduate of Ryerson University with a degree in Radio and Television Arts.


Dr. Rajeev Krishnamoorthy, Founder and Chief Technical Officer, Tzero Technologies, Inc.

Dr. Krishnamoorthy founded Tzero in 2003. He has spent nearly two decades creating, developing, and commercializing novel, advanced wireless communications systems. At Tzero he architected and oversaw the development of the company's wireless solution optimized for delivery of broadcast quality video data.

Prior to founding TZero, Mr. Krishnamoorthy was VP of Technology at Iospan Wireless (acquired by Intel) where he was responsible for developing the first commercially available multiple-antenna (MIMO) wireless systems. Previously he led MIMO research at AT&T Bell Labs in New Jersey. Krishnamoorthy began his career at Bell Labs working in the area of wireless communication. At AT&T Krishnamoorthy spent several years in the wireless LAN division in the Netherlands (later to become Lucent, then Agere) where he played a key role in the development of the first commercially available 802.11 (WiFi) chipset. This chipset enabled the first widely deployed wireless LAN network in the form of the Apple Airport product. During his time in the Netherlands, Mr. Krishnamoorthy also co-invented and developed the high-speed version of the system that resulted in the 802.11b standard.

Mr. Krishnamoorthy is a Consulting Professor at Stanford University in the Electrical Engineering department. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Caltech and a Ph.D. from Cornell in electrical engineering.


David Ladd, Managing Director, Mayfield Fund

With his deep engineering experience and networking expertise, David Ladd serves as Mayfield's communications & VoIP expert.

David, a successful former entrepreneur, sits on the boards of Casabi, LGC Wireless, LV Sensors, Pure Networks, and Sylantro Systems. David's notable past investments include Orative.

David was an early engineer at ROLM Corporation. After eight years at ROLM, he co-founded voice messaging company Opcom/VMX, which grew to a $100 million publicly held company. In 1994, VMX merged with Octel Communications and David became CTO. After Lucent Technologies acquired Octel in 1997, David joined Mayfield part-time while continuing to help Lucent form spin-out companies based on Bell Labs technology. David joined Mayfield full-time in May 1999.

David holds a B.S. degree in Engineering Physics from U.C. Berkeley and an M.S. in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology.

He is an avid sailor and can be found frequently on his boat in the San Francisco Bay.

With over fifteen years of Microsoft product and business development experience, Laepple has previously led Windows consumer PC and home networking industry initiatives in the Windows operating system division, and from 1990 to 1995 was a technical program manager for Windows hardware support.

Laepple holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Virginia Tech. His technical and professional background includes PC platform design, home networking and wireless, A/V device interoperability, past Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) board member and certification committee chair, and Universal Plug and Play founding contributor.


Ed Lee, Vice President of Business Development, Akimbo

With over 18 years of experience in business development, strategy and sales, Ed Lee cultivates key platform relationships to expand the distribution of the Akimbo Service and guides all sales efforts for Akimbo’s direct products. Before joining Akimbo, Ed led technology licensing efforts for ReplayTV. Prior to ReplayTV, Ed worked at Netopia as director of business development, where he was responsible for enterprise software sales to service providers targeting small and medium sized businesses. Hestia Lei, Executive Director, U-verse Member Marketing & Programmer Management, AT&T, Inc.

Hestia Lei, Executive Director, U-verse Member Marketing & Programmer Management, is responsible for the marketing development and strategy for all AT&T U-verseSM TV member communications and initiatives. She also serves as the company’s primary point of contact for developing programmer relationships.

AT&T U-verse TV is delivered by Project Lightspeed, the company’s initiative to expand its fiber-optics network deeper into neighborhoods to deliver AT&T U-verse TV, AT&T Yahoo!® High Speed Internet U-verse Enabled and, in the future, Voice over IP services. AT&T expects to reach approximately 19 million households by the end of 2008 as part of its initial deployment, using fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) and fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) technologies.

In her role, Lei oversees strategy and management for all U-verse TV member communications including development of upgrade, loyalty and retention programs designed to drive revenue and mitigate customer and premium subscription churn.

Before joining AT&T, Lei most recently served as director of marketing and new product development for DIRECTV, Inc., with responsibility for the strategic marketing development and implementation for all DIRECTV new content and sponsorship initiatives and co-marketing partnerships. Lei served in a variety of roles at DIRECTV leading pricing and packaging strategy, discounted programming offers, and local channel rollout initiatives, among other strategic efforts.

Prior to that, Lei served as senior brand manager at DIRECTV and director of strategic marketing for YES! CARD.COM. Lei began her career at Cable One, Inc., where she received the industry CTAM Mark Award for Excellence.

Lei previously served as a board director and volunteer for the non-profit agency, Mama’s Kitchen (MK) and currently helps to grant wishes for children with life threatening diseases through the Make a Wish Foundation (MAWF). Lei is also a member of Women in Cable & Telecommunications (WICT), Women in Film (WIF), and the Cable & Television Association for Marketing (CTAM).

William Leszinske is the General Manager of the Consumer Electronics Group within Intel Corporation's Digital Home Group. He previously served as the Intel® Viiv™ Technology Platform Manager.

Mr. Leszinske has an extensive background in sales and marketing. In 2004, he formed the Digital Home marketing team within Intel's Desktop Products Group. He also served as director of Chipset and Software Marketing for the same group.

Mr. Leszinske joined Intel in 1989, and holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. He is based out of Intel Corporation’s Folsom, California campus, and lives nearby with his wife and three children.


Steve Lidberg, CFA, Pacific Crest Securities

 

Steve Lidberg, CFA Director of Research, joined Pacific Crest in 1998 and coordinates and facilitates the firm’s research efforts. Ellis Lindsay, Home Networking and Digital Lifestyle SME, Alcatel-Lucent

 

Ellis Lindsay leads the Connected Home activities for Alcatel-Lucent's North American Strategy Group and is based in Canada at Alcatel-Lucent's Ottawa, Ontario Campus. As the Connected Home lead, Mr. Lindsay is Alcatel-Lucent's primary liaison to the consumer electronics and home control communities.

Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent, Mr. Lindsay was Associate Director, Consumer Services Development at Bell Canada where he was instrumental in the development of Bell Canada's Voice over IP services capabilities. His contributions to Bell Canada's communications technology and application strategies bring a wealth of integrated services knowledge and experience to the organization.

Prior to Bell Canada, Mr. Lindsay was Director of Strategic Alliances for Ubiquity Software, a SIP infrastructure company, where he built key business relationships with service providers and solution partners. Joining Ubiquity in 2001, he was an early participant in the evolution of SIP products and implementations within the service provider community. Mr. Lindsay has also worked as a consultant to communications product companies, and early in his career, Mr. Lindsay gained extensive experience in the Consumer and Enterprise software markets at Corel Corporation and Cognos Inc. where he held Product Management roles.

Mr. Lindsay has a Bachelor of Engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.


Jonathan D. Linkous, Executive Director, American Telemedicine Association

Jon Linkous is the executive director of the American Telemedicine Association (ATA), the largest membership-based organization in the world focusing exclusively on providing health and medical care through telecommunications technology. ATA’s annual meeting and trade show are among the fastest growing in the country. The Association advocates for changes in public laws that promote the deployment of telemedicine throughout the world. As the chief staff executive of ATA, Mr. Linkous has spoken and written extensively in the U.S. and in other countries on policy issues, emerging applications and market trends affecting telemedicine.

Mr. Linkous has over 20 years experience in the nation’s capital working in corporate and public sectors. He served as a senior consultant with Issue Dynamics Inc. (IDI), a Washington DC consulting firm specializing in telecommunications and technology policy. While at IDI, Mr. Linkous assisted in the early formation of ATA. For five years he was a leader in the aging services community as the Executive Director of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging. His principle interest in this position was in using telecommunications and adaptive technology to assist older Americans and their caregivers. Mr. Linkous was also involved for many years in regional planning and economic development, serving as the Deputy Executive Director of the National Association of Regional Councils and at the Appalachian Regional Commission as Director of District Programs. In his early career, he was also active in broadcast and cable television in Ohio.

Mr. Linkous holds a Masters of Public Administration from the School of Government and Public Affairs at the American University in Washington, D.C. and a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio with additional postgraduate work at the LBJ School of Public Affairs in Austin, Texas.

Oleg Logvinov, President and CEO, Arkados, Inc.

Oleg Logvinov is President and CEO of Arkados, Inc. (OTC BB: AKDS), a fabless semiconductor company bringing powerline communication solutions for audio and video applications in the home networking and broadband powerline (BPL) markets. He also serves as Chief Strategy Officer for the HomePlug Powerline Alliance. Oleg’s areas of expertise include optical networking, broadband access, VoIP, and networking. Previously, Oleg held senior positions with CyberPath Inc, NITECH Inc, and CEM Corporation. He also spent a number of years on research and development of control and process modeling solutions for large-scale high and medium voltage power distribution networks. Tara Maitra, Vice President, General Manager of Programming, TiVo, Inc.

Tara Maitra serves as Vice President, General Manager of Programming for TiVo. In this role, Maitra is responsible for cultivating relationships with content companies and unique content offerings for delivery via broadband.

Previously, Maitra served as Senior Director of content development at Comcast, where she was responsible for day-to-day operations of Select on Demand, a collection of new niche non-linear networks delivered via video on-demand and broadband. Maitra helped to create new channels through partnerships, acquisitions and original programming.

Prior to Comcast, Maitra was Executive Vice President, General Manager of Primedia Digital Video, where she developed on-demand and broadband video businesses for Primedia's established print franchises. Her accomplishments include launching video services on Comcast and Real Networks.

Ms. Maitra also held a series of editorial and management positions at NBC, including Vice President, General Manager of CNBC/Dow Jones Business Video, a joint venture of NBC, Microsoft and Dow Jones. There she led the development and managed one of the first profitable streaming video web sites to offer financial content thru both subscription and syndication models. A graduate of Washington and Lee University, located in Lexington, Virginia, Ms. Maitra holds a B.A. in Journalism and Psychology.


Matthew Marnik, Director of Marketing for the Multiplay Group, Juniper Networks, Inc.

Matthew Marnik is a Director of Marketing for the Multiplay group at Juniper. He also brings a wealth of broadband experience to the Broadband Services Forum, for which he has served on the Board of Directors and as its Vice President of Marketing. Previously with Nortel, he launched the industry's first Optical Ethernet solution, introduced Nortel's Ethernet switching portfolio to the service provider market, and developed the enterprise market for broadband IP services. Prior to his work at Nortel Networks, Matthew was a management consultant with Price Waterhouse. Matthew is a graduate of Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and the College of the Holy Cross.


Chris Mauzy, Director of Business Development, Best Buy For Business

 

Christopher Mauzy is director of business development for Best Buy For Business, the small-business technology solutions unit of Best Buy Co., Inc. He is responsible for managing and executing the sales strategy for the company’s home builder channel and its home automation product ConnectedLife.Home.

Prior to joining Best Buy For Business in 2005, Mauzy was director of builder services for Ultimate Electronics, based in Thornton, Colorado. Over the course of two years, he grew his segment of the company from five people and $650,000 in annual sales to $25 million and 210 employees.

Mauzy held a number of consulting and management positions with Ultimate Electronics over seven years with the company, including serving as a system consultant for Oracle implementations, a regional installation manager and a home installation manager. Previously he was a regional sales manager for Sound on Wheels stores across all of Colorado.

Mauzy is a member of the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) and is a Mobile Electronic Certified Professional. He attended the University of Colorado at Denver, where he studied business and mechanical engineering.


Clint McClellan, Sr. Director of Strategic Marketing, QUALCOMM

Clint McClellan is currently the senior director of strategic marketing for QUALCOMM Incorporated. McClellan’s current responsibilities include global messaging, overseeing industry relations, market analysis and market research. McClellan joined QUALCOMM in December of 1997 as director of strategic marketing.

McClellan brings a wealth of wireless industry analysis experience to QUALCOMM. While he was at Dataquest, McClellan served as a news anchor for two years on the Good Morning San Jose show at KNTV, an ABC affiliate, where he presented analysis and commentary on daily news events affecting high-technology industries. Previously, McClellan worked as a marketing specialist at Telephone House Nippo in Kobe, Japan and for CH2M Hill Consulting Engineers in Oakland, California.

McClellan's notable accomplishments include consulting projects with the Communications Minister of Australia about the deregulation of the Australian communications market. He has also provided strategic direction for a major Japanese cellular operator regarding its selection of the second generation digital standard and equipment manufacturers.

Andy is a recognized expert in the communications and consumer electronics market and a frequently sought commentator on industry issues. He has spoken at a wide variety of venture and financial summits, educational forums, industry conferences, service provider forums and trade shows.

Prior to joining Intellon, Andy was Chief Operating Officer of Clarisay, Inc., a developer of uniquely manufactured integrated modules for the cellular handset market. Andy was also a founding member of Microtune, Inc., (NASDAQ:TUNE), a developer of broadband, wireless RF and analog-intensive integrated devices, which targeted the automotive, home networking and consumer electronics markets.

During his tenure at Microtune, Melder was Vice President of Sales & Marketing and later, Vice President of Business Development. Part of his responsibilities included identifying new technology platforms for the company’s strong RF and mixed-signal core competencies, as well as corporate growth through the identification of strategic merger and acquisition opportunities. While at Microtune, the company expanded its presence in the cable infrastructure and home markets, as well as the wireless networking and consumer electronics sectors.

Additionally, Andy also served as Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Corporate Business Development of Tripath Technology, Inc. He was also a management team member, which led the company to its IPO in 2000. He was the Director of Business Development of Cirrus Logic Inc.’s (NASDAQ:CRUS) graphics business from 1995 to 1996, through an acquisition of Pixel Semiconductor, where he was also Director of Business Development.

He holds a BSEE/Business from Carnegie–Mellon University, and a MSEE/Operations Research from Southern Methodist University.


Joe Menard, Corporate Vice President, Consumer Business, AMD, Inc.

As AMD’s Corporate Vice President for Consumer Business activity, Joe Menard is responsible for the solutions, strategies, sales, and marketing efforts for AMD’s processor businesses serving the consumer market segment. Previously, Mr. Menard headed as AMD’s Software Strategy and Alliances unit, defining and driving the company’s software strategies and partnerships. Prior to joining AMD, he was founder, chairman, and CEO of WebGain Inc., a privately held provider of Java software for Fortune 500 companies.

Kirk Munroe, Director, Product Management, Radialpoint

As Director, Product Management, Kirk Munroe is responsible for Radialpoint’sValue-Added Services (VAS) management and delivery solution. Paul Nadjarian, Senior Vice President, OnForce

 

Responsible for overseeing the development of the OnForce platform and implementation of programs to communicate OnForce products and services across America, Paul Nadjarian is OnForce’s top marketing and product officer. Nadjarian was an executive at eBay, responsible for the growth of the eBay Motors Parts & Accessories business, which he rapidly grew to become the world’s largest on-line marketplace for parts and accessories. Earlier, he held several positions in sales and marketing within Ford Motor Company where he ran Ford’s lead-management solution team. During his time at Ford, Nadjarian was co-founder of GreenLeaf, Inc., an automotive recycling venture within Ford.


Sheau Ng, Vice President, Consumer and Broadcast Technology, NBC Universal

Sheau has been with the digital revolution from the start, contributing to MPEG, ATSC, DVD, and various technical standards activities. His career spans from compression research to product development in consumer electronics, semiconductors, and content/media industries. He was an contributing member of the Grand Alliance team, working at Sarnoff in late 80s. In early 90s, Sheau was part of Toshiba’s DVD team, where he helped build the world’s first DVD encoder. While at Toshiba, he also chaired the DAVIC 1.0 Technical Committee. Later, he was the architect of Philips first consumer HDTV on the ATSC market. At Philips, and later on at ATI, he was responsible for the software architecture of their DTV system-on-chip solutions. Sheau is now a vice president at NBC Universal, with responsibility in the areas of consumer and broadcast technology, standards, and policy. He chairs the Content Protection Task Group in the High-Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance (HANA). He is an active member at the CEA IPTV OCC, and many other industry groups. He is focusing his attention on making digital entertainment a worldwide reality.

Sheau holds graduate degrees from M.I.T., and had done post-graduate work at Princeton University. He also attended the executive MBA program at INSEAD. He currently holds over 30 patents worldwide. He lives in Boston with his wife and two children.


Romain Nouzareth, Founder and CEO, Boonty

Romain Nouzareth co-founded Boonty, one of the world’s leading providers of casual gaming solutions, in 2001. He is currently based in New York, where he oversees the Company’s North American operations.

Prior to founding Boonty, Romain founded e-business consulting firm Web Concept with his brother Mathieu in 1995. Romain held the position of Managing Director, remaining in that role with the company after its sale to Sweden’s IconMedialab (Euronext: icon) in 1999. He continued to develop and enlarge the agency until April 2001.

Romain was a member of the Jury at the Cannes Lion Festival in 2000 and is a frequent speaker at various events. He earned a law degree from the University of Paris II Assas, and is an investor in several start-ups as well as an active member of many non-profit associations.

Stephen Palm is currently Technical Director with the Broadband Communication Group of Broadcom Corporation. He chairs and participates in committees of Wi-Fi Alliance, DLNA, UPnP, IEEE 802.11, ITU-T SG9, ITU-T SG15 and CableLabs with particular interest in Home Networking and Quality of Service. He holds a BS EE from the University of California, Irvine, an MS ECE from Carnegie Mellon, and a Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo. Mark Pascarella, President, Gotuit Media, Corp.

Mark Pascarella is President and CEO of Gotuit Media Corp. As one of Gotuit’s founding investors, Mark has been a member of the company’s Board of Directors since inception and joined Gotuit full-time in 2001. Under Pascarella’s direction, Gotuit has pioneered video search / navigation and has become the leading provider of on demand video products for multiple platforms including: cable, broadband and mobile.

Before joining Gotuit Media, Pascarella teamed up with Sidney Topol, the former Chairman and CEO of Scientific-Atlanta (SFA), to found The Topol Group, an early-stage investment firm. In addition to Gotuit, The Topol Group's investments include broadband router manufacturer RiverDelta Networks (Motorola), cable services provider Navic Networks, VoIP switch maker Cedar Point Communications, and the multimedia semiconductor company Lumic, where Pascarella served on the Board of Directors. From 1992 to 1997, Pascarella worked in Business Development at Procter & Gamble.

Duane Paulson, President, Sequel Technologies, LLC

Paulson has two decades of executive level business experience, including 15 years in the security industry. He is one of the best known and most widely respected marketing minds in the security industry.

Most recently, Paulson served as President of Gibson Audio, the consumer electronics division of Gibson Guitar Corporation. Combining this operating experience in the consumer electronics space with his extensive security industry experience, Paulson brings to Sequel Technologies world-class marketing skills and contacts in virtually every level of both the consumer electronics and security industries.

Paulson began his security industry career in 1991 as a marketing executive for Interlogix, the leading provider of wireless security systems, with responsibility for a stable of the industry’s top brands – ITI, Sentrol, Caddx, Kalatel, GE Smart, and Aritech. Following GE’s acquisition of Interlogix in 2001, he became Vice President of Global Residential Marketing for GE Security.

During his security industry career Paulson led product management efforts that yielded scores of award-winning products. He also created and implemented marketing programs that generated unprecedented loyalty among dealers, home builders and utilities. The Security Pro dealer program created by Paulson at Interlogix became a model for the industry.

Paulson has served on the boards of several important industry associations, including serving on the board and the executive committee of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), producer of the International Consumer Electronics Show, serving for several years on the Security Industry Association (SIA) board of directors, and serving as president of the Home Automation and Networking Association (HANA). He remains active with CEA and currently sits on the CEA Small Business Council.


Peter Percosan, Executive Director Broadband Strategy, Broadband Communications Group, Texas Instruments, Inc.

 

Percosan has served as the director broadband strategy for Texas Instruments Residential Gateway business since the acquisition of Libit Signal Processing in 1999. In this role he provides strategic direction that aligns Texas Instruments technology strengths with the needs of the cable industry. He is also responsible for identifying market trends and providing the vision to the RGES group.

Prior to this position, Percosan was the vice president of strategy and business development at Libit Signal Processing. Percosan also served as vice president of strategic marketing, at Lysis SA and vice president of engineering at Ariel Corporation.

Percosan has presented on the cable broadband topic at numerous technical seminars.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of California at San Diego.


Pragash Pillai, Vice President, Strategic Engineering, Bresnan Communications

As Vice President Strategic Engineering Mr. Pillai plays an integral role in the strategic technology planning and assessments for service convergence of platforms including voice, video, data and wireless.

Mr. Pillai joined Bresnan in 2006 following seven years as Vice President of Advanced Engineering for Charter Communications, Inc. In that post, his responsibilities included digital video network architectures, system engineering, system integration and technology assessments.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Science in Telecommunications from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri. In addition, he completed graduate work in Telecommunications Management at Washington University in St. Louis. Mr. Pillai is also a graduate of the NAMIC –Executive Leadership Development Program at Anderson School of Management at UCLA.

Mr. Pillai has received numerous professional honors and industry accolades. In 2006 he was named one of CableWorld magazine’s “50 Most Influential Minorities,” was listed in Multichannel News’ “40 Under 40,” and received NAMIC’s “Next Generation Leader” Award. He has also been named among Multichannel News’ 2004 “Cable’s Next Generation of Innovators” and received SCTE’s 2003 “Young Engineer Award” and IEEE’s 2002 “Young Engineer Award” for St. Louis. Mr. Pillai has co-authored multiple industry articles on digital video technology and operations and has participated in multiple industry technical panels and sessions.


Kumu Puri, Global Managing Director, Consumer Electronics, Accenture

Kumu Puri is a Partner in Accenture’s Communications & High Tech Strategy practice. She has been with Accenture for ten years, working extensively with our large clients on business strategy topics spanning M&A, market entry, product/solution marketing, new service development, and channel strategy.

Kumu currently leads our Consumer Technology industry program, working with executives in the consumer electronics, media, and communications industries on their strategic initiatives to penetrate the home with compelling consumer value propositions. Her focus is on helping these clients: architect Digital Home solutions that cross content, software, hardware, services and the network; establish the right go-to-market ecosystem to sell the solutions; and expand services to improve the consumer experience.

Prior to joining Accenture, Kumu worked at Nortel in product development and launch. Len joined Intel after serving as CEO and Founder of NetBoost Corporation (acquired by Intel Corporation in 1999), the developer of network processor silicon, subsystems and software development systems. Prior to NetBoost, Len was Co-founder of Internet Middleware, Inc., an Internet proxy caching company acquired by Network Appliance, Inc. in 1997, and CEO of The Whitewater Group (acquired by Symantec). Len was also CEO at the Rand Group (acquired by Intergraph Corporation), and Vice President & General Manager at both Intergraph Corporation and Autodesk, Inc.

Reza Raji, Founder and CEO, iControl Networks, Inc.

 

Reza first saw the need for a new approach to home monitoring in 1999 and founded iControl Networks in 2003 to execute that vision. Prior to iControl Reza was the Director of Business Development at Echelon Corporation, a leading control and automation company. He joined the company in 1991 as one of the early employees and was involved in its first product launch, growth of the customer base to over 4,000, reaching profitability and a successful IPO in 1998. Prior to Echelon, Reza worked at IBM for four years as a development engineer as well as a member of an IBM Fellow group. Reza has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Consumer Electronics Association's Home Networking and IT Division as well as a Founding Board Member of the UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) Steering Committee. Robert Rodenbucher, Business Development Director, AwoX

Robert Rodenbucher is acting as Director of Business Development at AwoX, the European leader in middleware technologies for the aggregation of digital entertainment contents on a home network.

Starting in the early 80s as lab engineer at Wandel & Goldtermann France then at Thomson Simulators, he pursued, for more than 6 years, its career in robotics as team leader for the digital control command at Renault Automation. Bill Rose is President and founder of WJR Consulting Inc. advising manufacturers and technology development companies on product and business development, market strategies, and standards relating to the Consumer Electronics and entertainment networking industries. Matt Sanchez, CEO & Co-founder, VideoEgg, Inc.

Matt Sanchez began his entrepreneurial career as a junior in high school when he founded a computer consulting group in his hometown of Pendleton, OR. John Santhoff is the architect of Pulse~LINK’s Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology, with over thirty years experience in electronics and communications. He founded Pulse~LINK in June 2000 and currently serves as the as Chief Technology Officer and board member of the company. Tushar Saxena, Director, Home Networking Technologies, Verizon Communications

Tushar Saxena is the Director of Home Networking Technologies at Verizon Communications, where he is responsible for developing and executing the next generation digital home strategy for broadband services including FiOS and DSL. His group also represents Verizon on industry and standards forums such as the MoCA Alliance, DSL Forum and DLNA. Tushar was also the chief architect of VoiceWing, Verizon's consumer VoIP service launched in 2004.

Prior to Verizon, Tushar held key positions at GE Global Research and BBN Technologies where he was responsible for the development of a number of key innovative government and military solutions using emerging IP networking technologies

Michael S. Bhupen Shah, CTO and Co-founder, Sling Media

Bhupen Shah has over 22 years of experience in technology development, product development, and engineering management in embedded digital media and communication solutions at Emuzed, Dazzle, RealChip, Philips Semiconductors, IBM and others. Over his career, Bhupen has on four occasions successfully built cost-effective India-based development organizations.

Bhupen joins Sling Media as a co-founder following the acquisition of DiTango by Sling Media. Prior to founding DiTango, Bhupen co-founded Emuzed, Inc., initially serving as COO and EVP of Engineering. Bhupen played a key role in building and managing development team in Bangalore, India. His team delivered PC and embedded digital media products to worldwide tier-1 OEMs. Later as CTO and VP of Marketing, Bhupen focused in technology evangelism, marketing and pre-sales activities resulting in design wins with tier-1 OEMs worldwide.

Bhupen was also a key contributor and VP of Software at Dazzle, the first company to deliver video capture devices for the consumer market at retail. Dazzle was acquired by SCM Microsystems.

Bhupen holds a Master of Science in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.


Tony Shakib, CEO, Zensys

Tony Shakib is the president and CEO of Zensys, a leading provider of wireless networking technology for home control.

Tony has been key to the continued growth of the Z-Wave Alliance, a consortium of more than 125 leading companies in the home technology space dedicated to solidifying Z-Wave as the standard for wireless home and entertainment control products. Under his leadership, Zensys moved its global headquarters to Silicon Valley, secured strategic funding from Cisco and Intel Capital, and added some significant companies to the Z-Wave Alliance including Monster and Intel.

Prior to that he was president & CEO of AOptix Technologies and spent 16 years with Nortel Networks holding several executive positions ranging from general management and strategic business development to advanced technology development and systems architecture roles. Tony completed his tenure with Nortel as the general manager of the Broadband access division.

Ashish Sharma, Senior Director, Business Development, Corporate Strategy Group, Alvarion, Inc.

 

Mr. Sharma is responsible for various aspects of corporate strategy for Alvarion Ltd. His experience covers a broad spectrum of roles in business development, marketing, strategy and R&D. Mr. Sharma also handles the strategy and business development for WiMAX Forum. Julie Shumaker, Vice President, Worldwide Sales, Double Fusion, Inc.

Formerly EA’s National Director of Sales, Videogame Advertising, Shumaker established EA as the number one direct seller of integrated advertising placements in games. During her five year tenure, she increased year-on-year revenues by more than 60%. Shumaker’s successes include the implementation of a five-title advertising program with Procter & Gamble, a revolutionary sponsorship program with Daimler Chrysler around Madden NFL, and the industry’s first seven-figure product placement deals with McDonald’s and Intel in Electronic Art’s (EA) The Sims franchise. Prior to her work at EA, Shumaker drove sponsorships and advertising sales on Yahoo! Inc.’s FIFA World cup site (www.fifaworldcup.com). Before joining Yahoo, Shumaker was director of sponsorship sales for Quokka Sports and its joint venture with NBC. Shumaker’s experience in sports and sports marketing was established early on in her career, with three years as a professional golfer on the Asian and US tours. In 2005, Shumaker was featured in the “The Ad Age 2005 Women To Watch Report: Twenty-Five Executives Who Made A Difference,” underscoring her success in building videogames as a viable advertising channel.


Eric Smith, Chief Technical Officer, Control4

Eric brings more than 15 years of technology and home automation experience to Control4. Previously, he co-founded STSN, the worldwide leader in broadband services for business travelers. Eric developed the intellectual property that made it possible to simplify Internet protocols and offer fast, convenient broadband service to travelers staying in more than 175,000 hotel rooms in 200 cities around the world. Prior to STSN, Eric co-founded PHAST Corporation, which quickly became the leading control system in the residential control systems market.

Michael Stich, Director, Service Provider Strategic Marketing, Texas Instruments, Inc.

Michael Stich is the director of service provider strategy for Texas Instruments DSP Systems. Stich provides strategic planning, manages service provider relationships and market research for the group.

Previously, he was the Director of Strategic Marketing for TI’s Broadband Communications Group. Before joining TI in 2002, Stich was a senior associate at McKinsey & Company, where he developed growth strategies for executives in telecommunications, venture capital and equipment manufacturing. Prior to joining McKinsey, Stich founded Dell Ventures Asia, where he led several investments in Asian technology companies for Dell. Stich also served Dell’s senior vice president of Personal Systems in a wide range of product management, strategy and marketing projects.

Stich holds a bachelor’s of science degree in Computer Engineering from Tufts University and a master’s of business administration with a Marketing focus from the MIT Sloan School of Management.


Matthew Theall, President, HomePlug Powerline Alliance; Powerline Initiative Manager, Intel Corp.

 

Matt is the overall owner of Intel’s powerline initiative and works out of the Intel Digital Home Group. In this capacity, he is tasked with defining Intel’s powerline strategy and tactical plan. He is also a key member of a small group of people defining Intel’s digital home strategic plan and vision. Matt also acts as President of the HomePlug Alliance.

Over the last 8 years at Intel, Matt has held various senior roles driving technology initiatives and managing businesses. In addition to currently acting as the President of the HomePlug Alliance, Matt has also acted as Director, PCI Express Programs where he was co-lead of the Intel PCI Express marketing and ecosystem development team; Technology Initiative Manager for the Advanced Switching initiative; Director, I/O Translator Operation where he managed a business which delivered silicon products bridging different types of I/O; Director, PCI-PCI Bridge Product Operation which had #1 market segment share in the industry.

Prior to joining Intel, Matt also held marketing and sales management and engineering positions at Digital Equipment Corp and several start-ups. Matt holds a BSME from Northeastern University and an MBA from Rivier College.


John Ulm, Fellow of the Technical Staff, Connected Home Solutions, Motorola, Inc.

John Ulm is Fellow of the Technical Staff, Motorola Connected Home Solutions. In this role Mr. Ulm is responsible for investigating areas including advanced converged services; broadband access networks and bandwidth expansion; and seamless mobility for in-home and metro area multimedia distribution.

Ulm joined Motorola in 2006 as a member of the Technology Office reporting to the Connected Home Solutions CTO. He has been an active part of the Broadband industry for over 15 years, being a designer, architect and MAC protocol developer for the first cable modem systems. Ulm was a primary author for the Cable Industry’s DOCSIS 1.0 and 1.1 specifications that drove the cable modem success. He also spent time as a Network Processor architect for Nortel and as a consultant to the Broadband industry with YAS Corp.

Prior to the early cable modem work, Ulm was heavily involved in networking development at Hewlett Packard, Apollo Computer and Burroughs Corp.

Ulm holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has several patents to his name.


Ofer Vilenski, CEO, Jungo Software Technologies

 

Ofer Vilenski co-founded Jungo in 1998, and led the company from initial product development to today’s market leader position in the residential and small business gateway market. Prior to Jungo, Ofer worked for Check Point Software Technologies, a global leader in Internet security solutions, and served as a pilot in the Israeli Air Force. John Welch, CEO, PlayFirst, Inc.

John Welch is a co-founder and the President and CEO of PlayFirst, the leading publisher of highly-original games made for casual gamers wherever they play. One of the most visible figures in the casual games industry today, John is responsible for the strategic direction of the company. Prior to forming PlayFirst, John spent five years at Shockwave.com (now owned by Viacom) as the company's Vice President of Games and Product where he drove the product strategy and acquisitions for Shockwave.com. While at Shockwave.com, John helped build the site into one of the Internet's top games portals and discovered some of the top independent game developers in the world. Prior to this, John worked at SEGA where he led the specification effort for the Sega Dreamcast Network. Michelle Wu, CEO, MediaZone

Michelle Wu, Ph. D. is CEO of MediaZone. She is credited with pioneering a new way of delivering video online called “Social TV” which is disruptive to the traditional TV business, and building the media network.

Prior to MediaZone, she was the founder, Chairman and CEO of China Internet Group (CIG), a leading incubator for technology companies in China. She also served as CTO, VP of engineering and VP of sales and marketing at Why Not Creations, a leading online rich media entertainment company.


 

Jeff Erwin, President & CEO, Pure Networks Inc.

Jeff Erwin comes to Pure Networks with over 26 years in the high-tech and software industry, with experience in a variety of fields and roles. Previously, Jeff founded and ran three different high-tech companies (including ProTools and Kaspia) that were successfully acquired, and has served at the Vice President level at two different public companies (Network General and Visio). Jeff’s employment history also includes five years at Microsoft, where he served as General Manager for the Network Management Group & the Visio product line and was also the Director of Incubation for Microsoft Research in the wireless mesh networking space. Immediately prior to Pure Networks, Jeff was the President and CEO of Experticity, the leading developer of "the next-generation of customer information systems." Jeff has filed eight patents, shipped seven products at Microsoft, and has board-level experience with multiple VC-backed startups.


Elan Migdal, CEO, Friendly Technologies

Mr. Elan Migdal founded Friendly Technologies in 1997 in order to answer the needs of service providers whose help desks were being overwhelmed with calls from non-technical users. Mr. Midgal’s pioneering vision was to bridge the gap between these users and the technology they were unprepared to handle – a gap that continues to expand with the introduction of home networks and the digital home. Understanding that to lower support costs, the solution must be based on the prevention of problems and their automatic solution, Mr. Migdal focused on software technologies that would achieve this goal. In 1998, Friendly introduced APR™ (Automatic Problem Resolution). Since then, this technology has been embedded in the company’s Client, Server and Web-Based solutions, targeted to service providers and CPE vendors. Recently, Friendly has developed solutions that support the TR-69 standard.

Mr. Migdal, who brings to Friendly his extensive experience in the entrepreneurial and marketing management fields, was instrumental in leading Friendly to profitability – extending sales to five continents, with a customer base of Tier 1, 2, and 3 Telcos and service providers around the world.

Prior to Friendly, Mr. Midgal co-founded and managed a software company specializing in electronic publishing and OCR of musical notes (acquired by an industry leader), and also served as Marketing Manager for a large Israeli software house. He has studied accounting and economics, completed the Executive Management Program at Tel Aviv University, and has a strong technological background, including studies in programming and systems analysis.


David Sayag, Founder & Vice President, Marketing, Enure Networks

David Sayag is the Founder and Vice President of Marketing of Enure Networks. At Enure Networks he guided the company through two successful funding rounds, development of Enure’s flagship products, marketing leadership, beta trials with service providers and Enure’s customer deals. Since early in his career, as a network engineer, David foresaw the need for network management that was truly based on automated intelligence within a network. Additionally, his experience as a Marketing and R&D executive focused him on the emerging needs of consumer networking. The combination of these experiences was the driving force behind the founding of Enure Networks.

Prior to founding Enure, David served as Vice President of Product Marketing at Sheer Networks, Inc. (today part of Cisco Systems), where he was responsible for the Sheer Networks flagship product, at the time giving unprecedented network visibility to ADSL service providers. David was in charge of design and evolution of this product, being in continuous contact with major ADSL service providers worldwide. Earlier at Sheer, he led product design and development. Prior to Sheer Networks, David held R&D positions at 3COM, where he was instrumental in the development and deployment of major enterprise network management solutions.

David holds a BSc. (Honors) in Mathematics and Computer Science from Bar-Ilan University in Tel Aviv and an MSc in Computer Science from Tel Aviv University.


Singu Srinivas, CEO, HiWired

With more than 15 years in the consumer electronics, telecommunications and media industries Singu Srinivas co-founded HiWired in 2004 after witnessing the difficulties consumers and SMBs were having installing, integrating and securing personal technology. Prior HiWired, Srinivas was a relationship partner and led the Services Strategy practice at IBM Business Consulting Services - advising electronics clients like Philips, Kodak, Cisco and IBM. While at IBM, he also served as the director of Strategy Development for IBM Global Services. Prior to IBM, Singu spent four years working with start-up technology and content companies in Europe. Srinivas holds an MBA from the Wharton School; MS in industrial engineering from Stanford University; and a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Boston University.


Jeff Sunshine, Vice President, Finance and Business Development, Affinegy

 

Jeff Sunshine plays a key role in developing the company's overall business and growth strategy, including operational planning, capital raising, and developing external relationships with broadband service providers, network equipment and device manufacturers, and providers of digital home content, applications and services as Affinegy continues to grow its reach globally.

Prior to joining Affinegy, Jeff spent eight years at AOL in Virginia where, most recently, he served as a vice president of the company’s strategic partnership and M&A efforts for AOL’s Digital Services division, a business unit which managed a portfolio of emerging growth businesses focused on wireless, voice, digital asset management, music/video, and safety & security initiatives. Prior to the creation of AOL’s Digital services division, Jeff managed AOL’s Corporate Development team, covering all areas of the Internet sector. Earlier in his career, Jeff was an investment banker where he worked in a variety of roles, including M&A and other capital markets advisory assignments, and also as a principal helping to manage two equity funds.

Jeff holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a B.S. in Accounting and Decision Sciences from Miami University in Oxford, OH. He is married and has two daughters.


 

Bill Ablondi, Director, Channel Research, Parks Associates

Bill Ablondi is an information technology market analyst with 25 years experience advising computer and related peripheral manufacturers, software publishers, communication service, and Internet providers. Jerry Maglio, Advisory Board, Peak8 Solutions

 

Jerry Maglio is executive vice president of marketing for Starz Entertainment Group LLC (SEG). Maglio reports to Robert B. Clasen, president and chief executive officer, and is responsible for all consumer and affiliate marketing and research.

Prior to coming to SEG, Maglio served as the top marketing executive with three cable companies – American Television & Communications (now Time Warner Cable), Daniels & Associates, and United Artists Cable. At the latter two, both of which are now owned by Comcast Cable, he also was responsible for negotiating programming contracts. Maglio was the founding president of Rainbow Programming Services Inc. in 1980.

In 1991 he founded Maglio & Associates, Inc., a Denver-based consulting firm that has provided marketing advice to a wide range of clients in the media industry, including many of the top multi-channel providers. Maglio came to SEG as a consultant in 2003, acting as interim head of marketing.

In 1976 Maglio, then head of the Doubleday & Company’s flagship profit center, The Literary Guild of America, was recruited to join ATC as cable operators sought marketing experts from other industries to help launch a host of new programming services. Maglio helped pioneer the successful package marketing of multi-pay premium services and pay per view, and won both the Vanguard Award for Marketing from the National Cable & Telecommunications Association and the One-of-a-Kind Award from Cable and Telecommunications, a Marketing Society. Maglio served as president of CTAM in 1981.

Maglio, a native of White Plains, New York, received his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and his masters in business administration from Columbia University.
