CONNECTIONS™: The Digital Home Conference and Showcase,
produced by Parks Associates in partnership with CEA®, is pleased to
announce XSPAN™ from Atheros Communications as the Wednesday
Reception Sponsor for its 2006
event. CONNECTIONS™
will be held May 2-4 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara,
Calif.
CONNECTIONS™,
produced by Parks Associates in partnership with the Consumer Electronics
Association (CEA), is the largest executive conference and showcase
dedicated to advanced digital lifestyle solutions for residential and
mobile environments. This year’s conference topics include digital
entertainment, mobile platforms & services, home networking &
infrastructure, home management & digital health, and broadband & IP
services.
Atheros Communications is a leading developer of semiconductor system
solutions for wireless communications products. XSPAN is Atheros’ family
of new performance 802.11n technologies that provide high throughput
anywhere in the home environment to support multiple, high-bandwidth
applications by multiple users—even in the far reaches of the home.
Atheros’ newest technology is being used by a broad base of leading
vendors of home networking equipment worldwide.
“The future value proposition for home networking is in delivering
enhanced and integrated data sharing, communications, and entertainment
functionality to connectivity solutions,” said
Kurt Scherf, vice
president and principal analyst with Parks Associates. “The advance and
improvement of wireless to address such issues as throughput, range, and
quality-of-service will be critical in delivering this expanded value
proposition. Atheros’ XSPAN™ solutions are a key component to this
development.”
“Atheros’ latest technology delivers a superior wireless user
experience for the digital home,” said Todd Antes, vice president of
marketing. “Our XSPAN family of high-performance, 802.11n solutions
expands the wireless possibilities for advanced applications like
streaming high-definition video, IP telephony or online gaming throughout
the home.”
Parks Associates projects that, as a measure of total devices linked in
home networks, the global opportunities for home connectivity solutions
will expand 250 percent between 2006 and 2010. More than 700 million home
networking nodes will be linked by the end of 2010, and multimedia and
entertainment devices will constitute approximately 30 percent of the
total.
