CONNECTIONS™ 2006 Pre-Show Workshop

The Parks Associates’ analyst team led a full day of commentary and insight for this pre-conference workshop. This workshop featured two key blocs with morning and afternoon discussions.

In the morning, the analyst team will explore the strategy of services and content in creating more loyal customers, building revenues, and reducing churn.

The afternoon session will explore the role of end-user devices, home networking solutions, and developments in software and connectivity in bringing new uses and value to entertainment, communications, and productivity applications.

This workshop featured interactive discussions and debate fostered by the Parks Associates’ analyst team, and attendees received data and analysis through the attendee packet, which included background materials, consumer data, industry insights, and market forecasts.

Morning Session: The Role of Services and Content

Opening Comments:
Yuanzhe (Michael) Cai, Director of Broadband & Gaming for Parks Associates, will begin the morning’s sessions with an overview of major trends in services and value-added applications delivery. With a particular focus on broadband, television, and voice applications, this morning session will provide insight into strategies that service providers and their equipment partners should pursue to build their business.

11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Home networks are largely invisible to consumers until they stop working. Interruption of Internet service, printing capabilities, or content sharing will immediately precipitate calls to the service provider. This fact presents opportunities and challenges to OEMs and carriers. The panelists will discuss these issues and the potential for solutions such as PC performance tools, security services, and remote management of home networks.
