Although consumers may be “tuning in” to more digital content via HDTV, satellite radio, and portable music players, they are also “turning off” traditional advertising messaging. Using IP delivery schemes, however, advertising is moving from a static to interactive medium where targeted messages reach more of the right type of consumer. Home networks are largely invisible to consumers until they stop working. Interruption of Internet service, printing capabilities, or content sharing will immediately precipitate calls to the service provider. This fact presents opportunities and challenges to OEMs and carriers.
