CONNECTIONS™ Welcomes Intel as Platinum Sponsor, Opening Keynote Speaker
March 10, 2003 — Parks Associates and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) today welcomed Intel as a Platinum Sponsor for CONNECTIONS™ 2003: The Digital Home Conference and Showcase, taking place May 7-9, 2003, in San Jose, Calif.

CONNECTIONS™ also will feature two Intel executives in the opening keynote, Any Device, Any Time in the Digital Home, on Wednesday, May 7, from 4:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. In this session, Louis J. Burns, vice president, Intel Corp., and co-general manager, Intel Desktop Platforms Group, will present Intel’s plans to accelerate the convergence of consumer electronics and PC devices. Joining Mr. Burns will be Kevin Corbett, director of marketing and strategic planning, Desktop Platforms Group, Intel Corp.

In addition, they will elaborate on the work underway to provide this level of interoperability through collaboration on industry specifications and products. With the simple, seamless interoperability of CE and PC devices, consumers will be able to easily and conveniently enjoy digital media – regardless of source – across different devices and locations in the home.

“People want their home PCs and consumer electronic devices to work together simply and reliably,” said Burns. “We’re excited to work with others in the industry to develop the industry specifications and products that will make this vision a reality.”

CONNECTIONS™ attracts leaders from an array of industries, including market research, energy services, broadband Internet access and services, entertainment, appliances, and computer manufacturers. Attendees include strategic planners, product developers and marketers who are developing and selling advanced products and services for consumers in the residential market.

“We are delighted to have Intel as a CONNECTIONS™ 2003 sponsor and to have its key executives in this market area to explain the Intel vision and its plans around that vision,” said Tricia Parks, president of Parks Associates. “We always stress the importance of understanding consumers’ thinking and application desires to the success of home networking; Intel is making great strides in realizing this market by boosting customer confidence and collaborating with multiple industry planners to develop products and services that meet current consumer demands.”
