Tricia Parks, President, Parks Associates, opened the Parks Associates and CABA workshops with an opening overview of the home networking market.

Parks Associates' Connections & Services for the Home: Gateways, Networks, Services, and Applications

Parks Associates packed one year’s worth of consumer data and analysis into a day-long workshop covering home networking (PC- and entertainment-based), broadband Internet access, information appliances, packet-switched telephony, and wired communities. The workshop was opened by Tricia Parks and led by Parks Associates’ analysts, including Hongjun Li, Kurt Scherf, Brian Canny, and Ben Sauter. Special consultant Wayne Caswell (K2Vision)

CABA's Home Networking Challenges and Solutions for the Residential and MDU Markets

CABA's workshop featured practical insights and examples of successful home networking deployments from leading manufacturers, service providers, consultants, builders, and developers. Special OSGi Session

CONNECTIONS™ 2000 was pleased to host members of the Open Services Gateway Initiative (OSGi) and serve as the launch point for Version 1.0 of the specification for a multi-service residential gateway. This session included an address from the president of OSGi, John Barr (Motorola), and was moderated by Tricia Parks.

Welcome and Overview

Officially welcoming over 640 attendees, Ron Zimmer (CABA) and Tricia Parks (Parks Associates) spoke about the rapid growth of the home networking industry, one estimated to grow to nearly $5 billion by the end of 2004.

Session I – Opening Keynote

Mike Moone (Cisco Systems Inc.) discussed his Company’s role in the proliferation of the residential gateway and home networks.

Session II – Advancing the Networked Home
