Tvia aims new processor at home networking high-definition video
Consumer demand for home gateway hubs, however, will remain robust. The home networking market in the United States will grow from 12 million to almost 150 million home gateway nodes by the end of 2005, according to Parks Associates, Dallas.

Shakeout expected in home networking market
Still, many analysts hesitate to speculate how any one protocol will fare in the home networking industry, citing the market's embryonic state. The 802.11b and HomeRF standards, for example, are the only standards, in addition to wired Ethernet, to have gained significant market share. In the wireless realm, Parks Associates, a Dallas-based research firm, expects a 50-50 market split next year between HomeRF and 802.11.
