Nearly 90% of North American pay-TV subscribers have access to TV Everywhere

Penetration of operator-delivered multiscreen services in the U.S. and Canada has grown substantially, with nearly 90% of North American pay-TV subscribers now having access to some TV Everywhere offering, according to new research from Parks Associates.

Today’s consumer can access content through an assortment of devices, including computers, tablets, smartphones, game consoles, digital media receivers, Blu-ray players, and smart TVs. Over the past year, the amount of time spent watching video has doubled for tablets and computers and has almost tripled for mobile phones.

The upcoming CONNECTIONS Summit at CES will highlight this market on the session, “Multiscreen Services: Where Connected CE meets OTT" on January 8 from 4:00 – 5:15 PM led by Parks Associates research analyst, Jim O’Neill. This panel will examine the move by operators into the OTT services arena, including the services offered, business models, delivery issues, and the threats and dynamics of a new OTT video services world.  Speakers from Irdeto, Microsoft Corporation, Orange, and Samsung will discuss how multiscreen services can be used to drive consumers to premium services, advantages that operators have in OTT, and the business models used.
