iControl Networks: Interoperability Will Propel the Smart Home Market

Greg Roberts, Vice President, Marketing of iControl Networks, provides this response to the following industry question: "What do you think is the most challenging issue for your company as it relates to the connected home?"

In order to make the connected home a reality, appliances and devices must be able to "talk" to each other in the same language. We need a program that promotes interoperability between devices and apps -- which is the reason iControl started the OpenHome™ Partner Program, the first community for application and device makers to partner on a common platform. This program has been a great first step, but we need to work together as an industry if we want to bring consumers the connected lifestyle experience they want.

Greg Roberts is delivering the closing keynote on May 14 at this year's CONNECTIONS Conference, taking place this week (May 13-15) in San Francisco. His address, "The Internet of Toothbrushes? A Look at the Connected Home Market," will discuss the current technology driving smart home adoption as well as future implications for the market.
