Utility energy programs and demand-response markets have been the predominant drivers in the energy management space for many years. Today there are security service providers, telecoms, cable operators, appliance and device manufacturers, and big-box retailers entering the market with a wide variety of energy management and home automation solutions that deliver an improved lifestyle on top of energy management services. Given this dynamic and the overlapping goals of utilities and retailers, service providers, and manufacturers, the opportunity for partnership is evident. This session explores changes in the demand-response market and the impact on business models of different market participants.
